Is there any such thing as ""normal" output per day for a machine"?

same questions here.

Also, are there any "tweaks" that can help improve output?

Thanks!

JonB,

it's good to be working on a project with you again!

To celebrate the occasion, I decided to make it as tough as I could for you to pass me, so I've kicked the turbo in on the Red Rascal Rider, and put the pedal to the metal!!

oh, and watch out for canes and other obstacles!

Muahahahahahaha!!!!!! <---OGWEG

Anybody else think this client is just a little bit unstable? Sometimes it works as expected, sometimes it just sits there.
The cute little display works sometimes, then it doesn't. At least it seems to return results even when the display is non-functional.

Java code. Gotta love it.

and Ray, it appears to be four clients vs four clients. Mutually Assured Distributed computing. I'll keep an eye out for escalating hostilities.

So far the only abnormalities I have noticed is the program shutting down once in a while. Seems to run fine when it is running.

I installed a couple more boxes tonight.
I think I started out at 53rd on Wednesday morning & last I checked I was at 41st on our TeAm stats page. I suppose I will have climbed into the thirties by Friday night...

Yeah, JonB, I am getting the same effects as you describe. The coding seems to be still very raw - but I gotta give those programmers some slack since Israel is not the safest place to be at this time in Human History. I am also noticing that Internet Explorer does not "Snap" to attention and kind of drags its feet in loading pages. I sometimes d/l vids from Usenet and this may put a crimp on my ability to d/l those HUGE gigabit files.

My system that I have this puppy on is a 3.06 p4 with 1 gig of ram on an intel m/b - so it's no slouch.

On my weakest machines I had to install the latest version of SetiDriver and use the "IDLE priority" setting. After doing that and cleaning up the System Configuration Utility's Startup section to run only necessary programs, the computers starting responding as they should without any delays.

Gah. I got bit by the problem they were having with clients stopping. had 2 crunchers down this morning. Didn't get them back up until now.

Not good when I'm trying to keep ahead of JonB. :Q

Here is the current fix:

Hi,
To all of you who have experienced agents shutting down, please follow the following steps, and let us know if they solved the problem:
1. Close the agent
2. In the DIMES install dir, go to /Agent/Base/Outgoing/Results and delete everything
3. Follow the same step for ""/Logs
4. Restart the agent.
Thanks alot,
Eran

he, I just discovered that my primary WS did not have DIMES running. That's funny because that's the computer I've been doing work on since 4:30 AM this morning. If it wasn't for my little automatic spreadsheet, it would have been some time before I discovered it.

Anyway, I followed the directions RaySun2Be posted (copied) but did notice one slight difference.

C:\Program Files\DIMES\Agent\Classes\Base\Outgoing\log
C:\Program Files\DIMES\Agent\Classes\Base\Outgoing\results

At least that's where I found my "log" and "results" folders.

Yea I've noticed that whenever I open the GUI it seems to lock every 10secs or so for about 3-4secs ,somewhat annoying ,its ok minimised though.

I suppose whilst I'm in email contact with one of the Dimes folks (about Sygate throwing up false spoof alarms) I should mention it to him

So maybe it wasn't my overclocked xp3000m rebooting but the dimes program stopping, I may have to go and reoverclock that baby. LOL

Sorry about that Assimilator1,

In my attempt to keep ahead of JonB, seems I may have run you over! :Q

Oh wait, that WAS one of my goals.

It was close and still is. At one point (thanks to 2 crunchers that shut themselves down) JonB was .2 day from overtaking me, according to the FreeDC stats. Now it still shows me as being overtaken by JonB, only it will take 1.1 days. Short of adding another cruncher, there's not much else I can do.

Come and get me, JonB, I got the cane awaiting! Muahahaha!

Hey, I seem to have encountered an interesting situation. DIMES is allowed through my firewall, and it seems to generate a chain looking thing when run as Administrator, but when run as Limited user, it appears to sit there doing nothing (though I still appear to be getting points). This certainly doesn't seem normal. Any takers to answer my concern?
