Silverthorne, check your PMs.

I noticed this morning there was a momentary pop-up that said something about a "new" agent? Before I could react (no stabs in the back now ), the pop-up disappeared?

I know I have posted this before but there is the following message on the "Welcome to DIMES!" homepage: http://www.netdimes.org/index.html

______________________________

A new DIMES update will be released today. V.0.4.2 includes many bug fixes and several new features: Better graph presentation, new GUI tools (zoom, damping, auto clear) and a new tab which provides the users with powerful tools to measure to list of IPs/URLs. If you have an installed agent, you will receive in the next few days a pop-up when you open the DIMES window which asks you to OK the update. From there everything is done automatically.
______________________________

Maybe I got a "new" agent? It says version "0.4.2" which seems to me to be the same agent I've been running for several weeks. Related ... probably not.

BTW, we have quite a few members who are producing zero?

Some are even listed in this thread as "new" members?

If you are having trouble getting DIMES to work nicely along with your other stuff please say something. There are a couple of twists that we will be glad to help you sort out. You just need to speak up.

My stupid Charter pipeline at home keeps losing Sync (TV quality drops, too). The last two days have been pretty spotty. But I do have 3 clients running now.

I only put it on a single computer in the remote computer lab. If all eight PCs were running DIMES over the same DSL connection, it might negatively affect bandwidth and draw complaints. I'll try adding one new connection tomorrow and then check bandwidth usage.

The reason my stats are so low today is because it had shut itself off on 4 or 5 machine today while I was at work.

I've also had the same problem the last two days. When I installed it was already the new agent so that shouldn't be an issue. If I have time I'm going to try and check the dimes forums.

Edit: I just checked the dimes forums. Evidently the dimes people were uploading a faulty script on their end that was causing peoples agents to shut down. They have removed the script...I guess we shall see.

I was trying to install Dimes on a Win98 box at home this morning. I installed the latest Java runtimes, installed Dimes, but when I tried running it, I got an error message "Cannot create main window" or something to that effect, and it hangs.

Any ideas?

Edit

Nevermind, found the answer on their forums:
This has been talked about on other threads, but currently DIMES only supports Windoz NT based, 2000 and XP. Win 98 will not work.

It wouldn't hurt them at all to put what Windows platforms it DOES work on in the install page or download page, so people wouldn't spend an hour trying to get it to work. :|

At least you pass on the left. People who pass on the right into traffic when the left lane is clear are really irritating, and will feel the wrath of my cane.

I'll scoot over and let you pass.

For now. I think I may have a new goal......

A Paul-Eric visit. I haven't made it back to France (yet) but will let you know when it happens!!

The Linux client is supposed to work, but seems to be difficult to setup. Perhaps they'll get it fixed soon.

Hmm...I donno, Smoke. Isn't this how The Forbine Project started before USA's Uber AI hooked up with it's counterpart in Russia and ruled the world?

And there seems to an awful lot of borg units in this sector of space! :frown:

Well, ok...if Earthlink DSL doesn't swark about this to me I'll give it a go...

So, is there any room in this pool for a lowly turtle?

So what's "normal" output per day for a machine?
Is there any such thing as ""normal" output per day for a machine"?

same questions here.

Also, are there any "tweaks" that can help improve output?

And what is the tracert input box used for in the upper right hand corner?

Thanks!

I had posted about this on their forums yesterday.

Today, the Windows Download has a note that it is for Win2K and later versions, Win98 is not supported.

Now how is that for fast response? :Q
Kudos to the Dimes Team!

Nice !
Btw I did the same thing with Dimes on Win98:roll:

As for what's normal output I can only go by my average daily output ,which is about 1800-1900/day (that's just 1 PC)

What's everyone else getting?

Welcome to the party TurtleBlue
