DirecPc ??

Due to unavalability of DSL or Cable internet in my area, I am considering buying a DirecPc system. Has anyone out there had any experience (good or bad) with sattelite internet. If so, please give me some feedback before I spend the money.

A friend of mine has Direcpc and is happy with it. You should, however, check their Fair Access Policy. Also, because of the inherit latency, it is not a very good solution if you plan to do on-line gaming. Also, you should check out Starband. It's a two-way solution which means that you won't need your dialup connection. Unfortunately, it won't be available until sometime next year.

Starband hardware is set to hit the dealer shelves on November 6th. I've been part of their "Pilot Program" for a couple of months now. A NDA prevents me from saying anything good or bad about the system at this point but I can tell you to wait.

You may be able to get the DirectDuo too.
If you live out or in a place that has limited options, check it out.
From what I remember DirectPC was about $35 per month (without upload). With "their" upload, it jumped to like $55 or something like that. Also you're limited to 100 hrs. per month. Over that, you're charged a few bucks or so per hour. If you're a download hog, they might limit your access (see Fair Access Policy).

DirecDuo is the same thing as DirecPC. DierecPC is just combined with DirecTV on the same dish.
