direct connect for gaming

how do you connect two computers to play games? is it possible to do it with just an ethernet cable?
alternatively: my cousin brought over his laptop, with a wifi card. we couldnt get it to connect to my network. it recognized it, but refused to connect.
the router is an apple airport wireless-g router.

You can connect your PCs to the router and they should work right away. Your wireless router security probably does not match the laptop's.

if it could recognize but not connect, a saetting was off. either mac filtering was blocking, wep was not setup right, wrong key, wrong id......thats how it is. he just didnt set his laptop right.
