DirecTV Drops G4 From Channel Line-Up

About the only good shows left on G4 are Ninja Warrior [whenever they get new episodes] and AOTS [only when Kevin/Chris Hardwick are hosting]. The show seems to have gone downhill once Munn departed - her and Kevin had good chemistry.

They just don't seem to have the cool content/writing they use to have - it's all reruns of cops, cheaters, and ninja warrior or new shows catered to the "jackass" crowd [web soup, that's tough, etc]. If I want to watch "jackass" content, I'll switch to MTV or VH1 or one of the 10 billion other reality junk shows.

I too remember the days of Tech Tv/Screensavers - it was pure geek and it was awesome.

I remember watching TSS when I was younger and my dad (who never watched much TV) would also sit down to watch, since it was fairly informative. I think he (and most males) just liked gawking at Morgan Webb though .

Unless the Canadian version is different than the US version of G4.

Me too. TechTV mentioned AnandTech on their show and it's been history ever since.

I've really missed TechTV and The Screen Savers, but TWiT and Rev3 have done a lot to almost make up for it. Sometimes Patrick and Roger are even on TWiT. A couple weeks ago it was basically a TSS reunion with Leo, Patrick, Roger, and Yoshi.

they've been cutting back shows sadly, layoffs. i used to watch the diggreel, that was fun. hak5/trs/diggnation/tekzilla/hd nation are still good. patrick norton is on tekzilla. he was also on systm before that got canceled, it was a good show where they built stuff like arcade machines.

twit is just podcasts, there is video but there is no point watching a radio broadcast. security now is a good show. some of their other stuff is of lesser quality, too much filler or babble. maxwells house was also good on twit,but it couldn't pull a sponsor...too technical i guess. this and last weeks security now is on firesheep http://twit.tv/sn http://twit.tv/sn272

Patrick hosts Tekzilla which is pretty close to the format of the Screen Savers. Roger is a producer for the show I think. Leo doesn't write any books now so he can't hawk those. However, his podcasts will have promos where he'll go on for about five minutes on whatever's being advertised. It's a little annoying, but I don't mind it if it keeps the shows on. TWiT seems to be doing very well actually.
