Long story short I got my recent DirecTV bill and it was over $200. After looking at the statement I realized this was from the NFL package and Super Fan. I called that day to cancel the super fan since i really didn't use it much the year prior. The agent first offered me a 25% discount, then a 50% and finally just offered it to me for free. This after complaining i would not be able to watch the NFL games in HD without it. Well fast forward a few days i called them today to cancel the NFL package since my poor Buffalo Bills will suck again this year and another $45 a month could be spend somewhere else. The agent first asked why and i told her cost. She then offered me a $5 a month credit which I declined. Then offered a $10 and again i declined. She came back and said the best she could do was $20 a month (over the 6 month payment option) totally $120 savings. So in the last two calls to direcTV i have saved $220 on the NFL package. YRMM but I would definitely give it a shot.

Cliffs:
1. Called to cancel super fan, got it for free
2. Called to cancel NFL package got it for $120 off
3 Profit of $220

Nice. Definitely a YRMM deal... but good for you.

I don't think I'll waste my time wheeling and dealing w/ DirecTV though. I usually get some worthless bum of a customer service rep when I call in.

It helps if you've been a customer a good period of time, too. I got that deal last month, 120 off and free SF, when I called to drop sunday ticket. I was just tired of getting gouged on the price of it. The renewal was 149 my first year, 2002, and now it's 270. I'm sorry, but their costs for broadcasting sunday ticket have not gone up 100% in that time frame, plus they want another 100 for superfan.

I don't what it costs now, but when I was in Toronto, IIRC it cost me $25/mo to get Sunday Ticket on Rogers Cable. Since it's only 4 months long, the total was $100. Granted, American football has tough competition with hockey up there, but the fact that they have competition for Sunday Ticket (all sat/cable companies offer it) helps a lot.

That's fine and all, BUT WHEN THE FUCK ARE THEY GOING TO OFFER THE NFL SUNDAY TICKET FOR THOSE OF US ON CABLE???? I love my Packers, but I hate the NFL.

AFAIK, DirectTV has an exclusive deal for a few more years.

I'd pay you $120 for your superfan login, email me at morgan86 at gmail dot com if interested.

Same situation.

$149 was worth it.. Then it went up substantially, and then they wanted to charge me $100 extra to get the games in HD even though I already paid extra for HD.. thanks but no thanks. I miss Sunday Ticket, but i console myself next to the warm glow of my FIOS fibre optic cables..

They would cut me a deal here and there because I was a AAA customer, but i sure didn't feel like one.
