dx10 will be a disaster for the first gen cards to come out so dont bother, wait til its tried tested and true... (wow wasnt that a ford motto)

Plus being a vista-only feature means that no developer will make a game that requires a Dx10 card to run for at least a year or two after vista comes out. They would lose the vast majority of their potential market.

Except for Halo 2? Or is that just Vista only (regardless of the DX version)?

Only reason I am waiting for the DX10 cards is because they should be a stepup in performance over the cureent crop of cards. When I build this next machine the goal is to have it last almost 3 years.

best likely advice - wait for the 2nd generation of DX10 cards.
by then there will actually be DX10 games to play
late '08 or '09

looking forward to it also.Originally posted by: ArchAngel777
There will be a few titles out with DX10 once Vista is launched. It is set to launch near the end of 2006 currently. That could change, we all know that. But even though the number of DX10 titles will be few, the one that really matters to me the most is the CryEngine 2.0... That is said to be available shortly after the release of Vista in the forum of "Crysis" I believe... Should be a fun time!

Halo 2 probably doesn't require DX10. I see no reason why it would. The original Xbox version ran on a supped up GeForce3 card. Quite frankly, the only reason Halo 2 PC requries Vista is because Microsoft needs a reason for people to migrate to Vista, since all the good features have been cut out.
I think I read somewhere that Halo 2 is Vista only and hence dx10 only. I think it was on the bbc website.Originally posted by: Stu L Tissimus
