Dirty Bomb now on Steam (From creators of Enemy Terrirory and Quake Wars)

Not as good as Quake Wars (my fav FPS of the past decade) but still a pretty good game. Still in the beta stage, but really good, recommend it for anyone who likes class based fps games. It's now on Steam, so hopefully more people are gonna play.

Anyone else here playing it?

Hadn't heard of it until now. Watched the vid on Steam, looks promising. Shame it's a closed beta though. I'll keep an eye on it.
Looks somewhat like a MW2/MW3 meets TF2 kinda mix of old FPS games with newer graphics. Might be just what PC FPS players have been looking for, particularly those of us that are tired of the same old crap different wrapper COD and BF series games.

I thought the same thing. I loved Enemy Territory and played it for a good 3+ years. Splash Damage has always been one of my favorite devs, and altho Quake Wars was not well received, I think this game shows potential. Trying to get my old clan buddies to give CS:GO a rest and try this one out once its open to all.

How is survarium?

survarium is a bit of a mixed bag. the game tends towards realism, i love the maps and art, even though they are asymmetrical (which means one team gets shafted pretty much always). movement and shooting is not geared towards competitive, instead it focuses on spotting, camping, stealth + awareness. TTK is low.
the first 2-3 days are rough, the UI is still very much beta, and some important things are not clear at first.
after the first impact, the game becomes more manageable, and there's a lot of levelling/missions/gear acquisition, and some skills too.

the game gives you a lot of stuff for free, so the P2W element is negligible, and the devs are quite inspiring. its worth a shot, if you can survive the first couple days with the lev 1 baby gun and no armor.

Got my Dirty Bomb closed beta key yesterday and installed it. Played through the tutorial and thought, ehh, this was a mistake. I am getting too old (46) to play yet another FPS - my fast twitch skills are shot, my tendinitis flares up, why even bother ?

An hour later, I had played and finished 3 rounds, and for my first time playing it, or any FPS in 2 years, I didn't embarrass myself. I didn't change any key bindings yet, so I was always a step or move behind, but I know how to play a team objective game well enough that my team won all 3 games.

First impression - the gameplay is fast. Nobody ever crouches or sneaks - everyone is sprinting and bunny hopping everywhere. Head shots are the only way to go - a full clip to the body won't take a guy down, but 4 headshots will. The graphics are about what you'd see from UT 2004 - nothing special compared to other FPS, but the gameplay is well rounded and the levels seem well thought out. It reminded me of UT 2004 and E.T., no surprise there since Splash Damage developed this game.

After the way Brink flopped do not expect much from splash damage.

My son wanted Brink something awful. After he got it and saw that almost nothing in the previews was in the game, it was a major letdown.

is this live on steam yet? I have a beta key but can't play since they began their switch.


I want this to be my cup of team, but if the splash damage team can't do some teamwork and team it out to steam, it won't be my cup of team.

I would give it a try, but there are too many other (good) online shooters occupying my time. What exactly does this game have to offer over other shooters? Anything particularly special?

Would really like if they would make something like this with a nice new engine and some good marketing (to get a decent base of players). All these years later, I am still chasing the co-op feel of RTCW. Man, I loved the multiplayer of thet game more than any other.

extremely generic and imho bad shooting mechanics. movement is extremely bland. would not recommend.
