"Disappearing" door Lincoln Mark VIII

Not sure if this really belongs in the garage, but it's really cool looking concept car where the doors just disappear beneath the car instead of swinging out.

It's for sale on ebay now, there is a video of the door in action on the page

Well it's a concept car from 1993, so technology was a little different back then. I suppose they could probably make this happen in a less ghetto fashion now, if they wanted to.

It's likely that the door was only recently developed and was installed on an inexpensive used luxury car as their first test subject.

Sadly, only the passenger's side door opens, which tends to undermine the cool-and-smoothness of climbing out.

If it was indeed a concept car (Which I highly doubt) probably the reason why they didn't continue making them was side impact collision. I can only imagine the lawsuits that would arise.

Yeah, the fact that they still want 19k for a car that they are trying to sell as cool but then its also half broken.

I wouldn't call it ghetto since it really is well done. It looks like it was done as an engineering exercize to check he feasability of the concept.
