According to this reviewer, most games are faster on the 980ti . I feel stupid now waiting for this card that I was hoping to be at least 15 to 30% faster at the same price point or less than the 980ti. Not only does it not come with HDMI 2.0, it doesn't even come with 6 GB or more of HBM.

There are few AMD user left and this was the final nail in the coffin on how I feel about AMD. This gpu is going to alienate the very few AMD user left who were all hoping AMD would hit the ball out of the park with this one.

I have defect over to Nvidia now. No amount of right could change my mind now. AMD had a chance to make an epic gpu and they end up with another failure that also require a large cooler. Might as well make the GPU market a monopoly because AMD are either too cheap or they just can't complete. Their cpu is also a failure as well.

I feel very foolish for not listening to other people who said that the 980ti was better than the AMD Fury X and the wait wasn't worth it.

This is my rant, waited all of this time for an inferior product. Seeing how Eyefinity is important for me and is really the only reason I want to upgrade in the first place, I don't even know how I feel about building a PC now. This is utter disappointment. I can't voice my displeasure enough.

If you have the spare change, go buy whatever card works for you. I have a budget, so waiting for reviews and best bang/buck plays a more significant role than anything. That $100 extra for the "ti" version just impacts me more than you

Go buy whatever will make you happy.

What if Fury overclocks well when the tools are available?

Going to switch back?

Nothing makes me happy now. Already miss out on a free game with the 980ti but it seem I can't do that either cause Nvidia Surround absolutely suck. I show no brand loyalty. All I want is competition and what is best for us consumer. I'm also not sold on VR because the games that are on VR now are games like Minecraft....

Fury X should be price at $300 and nothing more. No way I'm paying $650 for less VRAM, no HDMI 2.0, slower performance in most games including GTA V, use up more power and also has a thick water cooler with it and yet run hotter than a 980ti. Just no.

You do know it's around 10% less than the TI? Are you stating that Nvidia and AMD are charging too much? If so, I agree with you. However, I don't mind the price of the fury x.

You're right though when it comes to surround for eyefinity though.

That's a big "if". I think the Fury X will OC well, but so does the 980Ti. Ultimately it'll come down to what it normally does, do you want Red or Green? Neither is really going to seriously beat the hell out of the other.

I feel you on the disappointment. I actually ordered then cancelled my 980Ti (more than once) and decided to wait for Fury. Thought it was going to be a 2 week wait but then realized 2 weeks was just for the announcement which didn't really tell us much we didn't already know. So then I had to wait another week for the actual reviews only to find out it's not any faster and usually slower than the 980Ti.

On the plus side, the 3 week wait has made my upgrade itch for less intense, and now i'm just like "meh... I'll just wait" The next big thing on my radar that would essentially require an upgrade is a VR headset, but production units for an Oculus Rift is still an entire year away.

I don't see how the Fury X can overclock better than the 980ti. The 980Ti is perfect in that department. If anything, I'll be on par but some things won't ever change though.

The Fury X won't ever have HDMI 2.0 support (well alternative adapter that cost extra don't count), and will always have a 4GB Vram bottleneck. It will always be an inferior product sadly.

Why can't this GPU market have more than just 2 manufacture? Where Intel?

You're right though when it comes to surround for eyefinity though.

Relative to non-overclocked performance, it's priced ~$50-75 too much, which really isn't something to harp about (IMO), especially considering its snazzy (and quiet) AIO cooler.

We were told it overclocks well.

Bragging was going on.

It certainly should overclock well.

I am more disappointed by what wasn't launched.

Where is the Pro? Where is the Nano? Where is the X2 card? AMD only released 1/4 of the Fury line. I am more interested in the X2 and Pro versions, but will have to wait a month for the pro and longer for the X2. Who knows on the Nano?

The Fury X is IMPRESSIVE if the 980Ti never existed. Compared to the 980 or TX, it is a no-brainer. The 980Ti is a much more difficult match. That said, if Freesync is important to you (over Gsync) then losing some OC headroom vs the 980Ti is definitely not very painful.

I think Fury X users will be happy with their purchases. Its a great card. All things equal though, pure performance and OC focused, the 980Ti is a better card to recommend.

Now we have to wait for Pro reviews....

True, the Nano seem pretty cool. But I don't think anyone Fury X user will be happy. This card just absolutely blow.

Disagree.

At $$549 this card is a good deal. At $649 it isn't.

Look for price cuts soon as people will likely buy 980Ti is both are $649, and the market sets the price.

The Pro is going to need to be 90% or so same performance at ~ clocks with unlocked voltage to substantiate it's $549 price. If thats the case, it will be a great alternative to the X. Kind of like how the 980Ti is slower (stock) vs TX, but can OC better and exceeds it in some cases. Hoping similar type of situation for Pro...

It's been 3 weeks since the 980Ti launched, aren't you overreacting a bit?

3 weeks is a long time wait for an inferior product.

So you expected AMD (market cap $2.03b, and GPUs not their primary business) to smack down NVIDIA (market cap $11.37 and GPUs their primary business)?

Why is that?

I'm disappointed as well, but the fact is my 7970 and R290 weren't great deals because they beat NVIDIA parts, they were because they were close and cost a lot less.

These Fiji parts will end up the same. They lack HDMI 2.0, and the performance lags a bit behind, but that means they'll be discounted quickly from MSRP to us.

I think we all knew 290Xs weren't going to be selling for $439 when they weren't selling for $300..

Whole AMD product stack at top end will get a $100 MSRP cut, you heard it here first.

When that happens they'll be priced right and sell as well as AMD sells. (to people like me looking for a bargain)

Can't NV just price match, though? NV already has a lot of sales in the bank.

Just do what I do and skip this generation, and wait for the 14nm GPUs with HBM2. Will probably be a big performance leap. There are hardly any games out right now that are worth upgrading for IMO.

Till then my rusty old 7870 XT will do just fine.

$300 for a card 25-35% faster than a 980 that costs $470-500? Fury X at $549 would sell well but right now it's about $100 overpriced I'd say for those of us who overclock. HDMI 2.0 isn't that big of an issue for everyone though so I don't see it as a major negative, albeit a negative for those gamers needing 1440P @ 120Hz on Korean monitors or 4K gamers on an HDTV (but you'd then need 2x 980Ti or 2x Fury X to enjoy games on said TV which is 1% of the entire GPU market who spends $1300+ on flagship cards in a pair). Also, the point of the card running hotter than a 980, not sure where you got that from.

The performance in GTA V is fairly comparable depending on the review.

Anyway, go ahead and buy an after-market 980Ti and enjoy it.
