Very cool deal, thanks! Discover always seems to be the leader in new stuff, and their online protection is top notch. They have the cool thing where they generate new throwaway account numbers for you to use online so it's useless if stolen.

One thing to keep in mind - these cards can't be used in insertion-style atms, gas pumps, etc. You can swipe 'em, but you can't stick 'em...

off-topic answer: some vendors have been implementing a pin code associated with a credit card. at a local chevron station, you have to type in the billing address zip code in order to validate the credit card being used. I think that's a step in the right direction, as long as the thief didn't steal your whole wallet, since your license is likely current and shows the zip code. but it's a start.

It's not a card REPLACEMENT. It's an enhancement for the times when it would be more convenient to use than the card. They also send you a new regular card along with the gizmo.

Both now. My Platinum card is transparent/blue. It's got a bunch of the Discover "Sun" Logo's all over it, and it's like a metallic blue. Cool looking card.

I had a classic card for almost two years, a few weeks ago I got a letter in the mail from them and I was bumped up to platinum. That's when I got the transparent card. I'm pretty sure you could ask for one from them, just like the flag card that they have.

The transparent AMEX Blue card is exactly that. Everything is the same, such as blue center, chip, name, numbers, etc., except the silver portion of the card is now transparent.

It does look very neat and a nice gimmic for more people to sign up for their cards
