I don't have a shirt off version of either me, but I'll get my wife to snap one of me soon. My biggest flaw is the umbilical fat that refuses to go away.

The biggest contributor (aside from an iron will) is Men's Health ABS Diet. It works guys, the proof is in the pics.

There may be one, but I doubt it's as prevalent as the fatties say it is. It's just an easy excuse for laziness and gluttony IMHO.Originally posted by: Regs

Makes me wonder how many people believe there's a "fat gene".

There is, in fact, at least one "fat gene." Approximately 1 in 1000 people are born with defective MC5R receptors due to their genetics. When your body is satiated, it produces a hormone called leptin. The leptin binds to your MC5R receptors in your brain and tells you you're full (i.e. "stop eating you little piggy"). In people with the defect, the leptin cannot bind to the MC5R receptors and there is no message received by the brain telling the person that they've had enough to eat. In essence, these people are always hungry.Originally posted by: Squisher

There is not a fat gene, but people are born with different metabolisms. Even the same person can have widely varying metabolisms during their life. One of the great "tricks" to successful dieting is keeping your metabolism up even though you are restricting calories (exercise, plentiful consumption of lean proteins and complex carbs, supplements help too [CLA, GLA]).
Some consume great amounts of calories and lead sedentary lifestyles yet are relatively thin others must be very regimented in their consumption to stay healthy.
