Disgruntled VNF owners

For all youse guyz that don't like the VNF. I wil make you a deal. I will buy it or trade you for something whether it be a 5900 or a 9800SE that is artifact free running like a 9800pro. Perhaps we can work out a goods plus cash either way with a A64 too if need be.

I am doing this just cause I feel responsible because I liked my board so much and talked it up. Let me help you correct your mistake.

Wow, very nice of you BlindBartimaeus!!!

I would just like to say though that I also love my VNF3-250, although it is not without its quirks. If you are going to use SATA, IDE and especially RAID on SATA you have to follow the advice found in the forum or you are in for a hard time. The board definately isn't for a beginner system builder, or those without a lot of patience for figuring out problems. However, if you have the skill and patience this board is awesome once it is up and running how you want it.

I agree... I have no problems with my VNF3-250 and would buy one again in a heartbeat

So far so good here.

I did have to reset my CMOS to defaults after flashing w/ the beta bios. After flashing it would freeze w/ the drive light on right at the point where it should be testing the memory... Kinda spooked me but resetting CMOS got it back up.

I have loaded Mandrake 10.0 for AMD 64 and it's pretty sweet, with the only glitch being my gigabit ethernet card which is much slower under the Linux boot than the XP boot.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for an aircooling heatsink solution? I'm happy enough that the setup is solid and am ready to try some OCing so it's time to ditch the stock heatsink.

I'm using the Zalman CNPS7000A-Cu On my Giga GA-K8N Pro.. Very quiet and stays in low 40's with overclocked 3200 at 2350 and 1.7v.. I would highly recommend..

I use a Swiftech 6400v + a 2500rpm 80mm fan. Temps are 38/39 idle mid 40s underload with a 3200+ at stock speed/voltage.

I certainly didn't mean straight up for a 5900 BTW

But you get the idea.

Just got my 3 port firewire card for 12 bucks from hardcorecooling.com which makes this board quite attractive for 92 bucks total. Additionally they dropped off this PC4200...I may just give that a shot while I am there inside my case

In that same care package I got a Venus 12 so I will tell you how much better than the stock heatsink it is.

I have a ZNF3-250 and it was rocking along until the usb started to not work.

Anyone encountered this problem?

I had My 3000+ at 2500Mhz, nice and stable, 46 idle 56 under pifast with a venus12 cooler and that is with a zalman fanless HS on a 5900lx

My front usbs weren't working but I haven't bothered to even check the pin arrangement yet until I put my HSF on.

I had one of the front USB ports working (the one that has the nice block connector to the MB.) However, since trying to hookup the other port I have been having issues.... I wish they would have used two of those nice block connectors instead of using the seperate pin connectors for the one usb connection...
