DishNetwork: SHOWTIME Weekend Preview!!!

Just saw a commercial on DishNetwork stating that there's gonna be a Showtime weekend preview in January!!! If i remember correctly, its January 11-13th. Just to let you guys know.

yes i think you can get free preview on directv as well.
i've seen HBO, and starz free preview on directv.

Thanks! I'm new to Dish (with the 'I got 9' promotion) and look forward to my first free weekend. I got pissed off at the local cable company years ago and have been surviving since with just local stations and rabbit ears.

Don't know if anyone else has noticed this or not, but last night was the FIRST time I got ALL the local channels on the DISH. They moved the Pittsburgh-area locals to the 8000 range and now include WB and UPN

'must carry' just went into effect and that's why you've got other local channels besides cbs/abc/nbc/fox. that's also the reason for the lower picture quality as they have to compress the signal more. unfortunately it's not just upn and wb being added to locals it's even joe and tom's tv station

FYI, my cable company (Charter in Greenville, SC) sent info on this free preview in thir bill, so this may be universal...

Call now, sign up for 1 month. You'll get to tape all those movies this weekend.

Also, I guarantee you won't want to give it up at the end of the month. Once you have PTV you never go back.

Yes I'm pretty sure this is universal. I have Comcast Digital Cable in Sacramento, CA and I'm getting this deal too.

no ptv service? guess you missed out on the buy a dishplayer and get free ptv 'til 6/2003. that was a nice promotion! picked up a refurb 7100 for $99 which qualified, then had to rma that to dish because it screeched and they sent me a brand new 7200! yeehaw!

yes, try ptv and you can never go back to reg tv

I read somewhere (www.dbsforums.com ?) that the Dish PVR functions were now free indefinitely. I also picked up a refurb 7100 and they told me 2 years + some months of free PVR. Can someone verify if the PVR is indefinite now?

There was a thread earlier on the subject, and the impression I got was also the PTV is free. So I called them last week, hoping to get in on this. Well, guess what, the first CSR I talked to put me on hold twice and finally came back and said the service is still $9.99/mon, but there is a 3-month free trial. So I asked her to sign me up since this would be good for the Showtime free preview. She did some typing and told me it's done.

Well, it wasn't. I waited for 24 hr, still no service. So I called back. This time the CSR I got didn't even know the PTV is still offered anymore! She put me on hold for like 10 min, then told me I was not signed up, and she had to ask a manager for instructions because it's not in her routines. I said fine, sign me up now with that 3-month trial thing. She went like "what trial? There's no trial period"! That was irritating! I got pissedand said then don't sign me up.

Anyways, I guess if you want it badly, you can go for it -- according to the second CSR I talked with, very few people do now. Apparently, many got the service for free and for an extended period. Too bad, I signed up with Dishnetwork too early (3 years ago!)...
