Diskkeeper "FragSheild" and MFT adjustments

How safe is this feature? Fragsheild will increase the MFT file size to keep down fragmentation of the MFT based on the number of files on the drives.

Anything that is going to mess around with my MFT worries me. Looks like DK has had this feature since v9, but thought I would ask anyway.

Anybody use this feature of DK?

I suggest you examine these factors:
- How many processes does DiskKeeper run in the background to support FragShield?
- What's the memory burden for these added processes?
- What about occasional lags, while FragShield adjusts your MFT?
- On balance, do the benefits of FragShield outweight the burdens?

I use PerfectDisk, but I turn off all extra 'features' and only use it for manual defrags. I don't like the extra running processes incurred by enabling the added 'features'.

Any program 'feature' that slows down my system and adds memory burden and response lags for added processes had better have some really substantial benefits. If not, it's simply 'bloatware'.

I'm sure DiskKeeper is an outstanding defragger, but I'd examine both pros and cons of
the FragShield feature.

Thanks, fragshield is an analysis that you manually run on each drive. DK runs in background at user defined background times. Memory and resources are 100% configurable.

I have used it many times, it works perfectly

I use Diskeeper 10 and run all the defrags at low priority continuously and then run each on selected days between 2AM and 5AM. I did make the adjustments suggested, not sure whether it helped......but it definately didn't hurt anything.

Diskeeper runs a single process.
Memory/CPU burden is completely adjustable
No lags whatsoever
