Display problems

But in doing so, what he did was uninstall all the video card, and reboot, then install the drivers.

After he rebooted, Windows XP loads but there is no display. I tried safe mode, VGA mode, but the system just hangs with a blinking cursor.

I suspect that the reason why there is no display is because Windows is expecting to run at a resolution, but since the drivers are not loaded, it cannot handle the resolution. He has an ASUS LCD 21 inch monitor.

This is why I tried VGA mode, but for some reason, none of the safe mode options will load (strange).

I think I can fix this with a regular CRT monitor, load the drivers and it should be fine. But is there another option? Anyways, I am looking for answers. Thanks for any help!

You say there's a blinking Cursor, and how are you trying to get into Safe Mode if there is no Video

Right off, turn the Power off of the PSU (on back) and leave everything powered down a few minutes, then re-power the System and try to Boot.
I have an odd BIOS setting that if it's not set correctly will somewhat do what you are seeing.

yea, I would first clear CMOS, remove the batter for like 30 seconds. From there make sure there isn't a setting in BIOS that enables onboard video(if there is any) Also system spec's would be helpful.

the monitor and xp are be able to display any resolution(even without proper drivers), even 600x800 would display, it would look like shit but you could see something. kinda seems like the OS took a dump may want to boot from the OS CD and try to run repair, or boot the recovery console and see what you can fix. could be bad drivers, not sure how many times you've rebooted but you could try to hit f8 before windows loads and use last known good conifguration, but it only holds like 10 or 15 entrys and makes a new one each time it's rebooted so if you've been rebooting a lot this won't help, but may be worth a shot.

Does safe mode not load anything? doesn't show drivers/files loading or anything?

If booting to safe mode gives you the list of drivers loaded but hangs on one, that would be your issue, and google how to fix it. I'm doubting it's a driver issue as safe mode doesn't load any 3rd party drivers, it's the most basic setup with limited driver support. that the point of safe mode actually, if drivers kill the os to boot there and fix it(I know there are other uses but this is most common for me, and I would think most people)
