Display properties then desktop very slow

Help! Somehow now when I go to display properties then click desktop (winxp) it is now taking about 3 minutes to respond because all 2500 of my jpegs are showing up in the background area. I was letting a friend use my PC and now this is happening. Does anyone know how to "un do" this?

Sounds like your friend some how had the Background image list point at your My Pictures folder or he copied all your pics into the same folder as the stock background image folder. So check your Windows folder to see if all your images are there. Otherwise the fix may have to do with a registry fix of some kind.
