if you are willing to drive your stuff to the nearest state sponsored location to safely dispose of your computers, monitors, peripherals like keyboards, mice, batteries, etc. as well as floppies and cd's. check out EPA
here is the EPA link for NJ residents, there is a drop down menu to select your state:
EPA tells you how to dispose of your computer's in an economical way for free, if it is unusable. I know NJ has state sponsored recycling programs. Some states require you to pay to dispose safely, but it's such a nominal fee. It's worth it. You can check how, here.
Usable Computers?, then you may want to donate them somewhere for a tax write off.
don't want to drive out, want someone to pick up your equipment for you instead?
Then HP is your answer, they send a truck to your house to pick up your equipment, and they reimburse you the nominal recycling fees they charge you with up to $50 in gift certificates at HPShopping.com (which offers students a special pricing for many items)
HP E coupon for recycling
if you want 10% off at Dell, then don't pay anything except for about 10 bucks or so to ship your goodies to a nearby Dell location (they're everywhere) - and you get a 10% off coupon for your efforts : Dell's recycling program
