I am a complete newbie so please bear with me.
Just got an x2 3800+ with 2*512mb dual channel ocz ram on a MSI K8N Neo4-f motherboard. I didn't put it together and no overclocking as this point. When I fire up cpu-z and click on the memory tab it states under general: Type = DDR ram, Channels = single, size = 1024MBytes. Under the Timings tab it states: Frequency = 167.5MHz, FSB Dram = CPU/12. Clicking on the spd tab, and choosing either slot 1 or 3, I get under SPD Timing Table: Frequency = 200MHz.
Do these figures make sense? I'm thinking something is not right but not really sure. I wonder if is has to do with ram being in slot 1 and 3. I checked the manual but was confused.
Thanks
OK, after running sisoft I now know that the ram is running at 333MHz. I spoke to the guy who built it and he said the ram (ocz premier) is in the correct slots but that the board will not auto detect and set it at 400MHz. He told me to go into the bios and change the setting manually. Now I'm thinking he set it up properly and when I updated the bios to v1.9 that setting got mucked up.
PS. It turns out I was right and the ram needed to be in slot 1&2 and not 1&3. The guy who built it will be hearing from me :|
