Only running a laptop these days. And I do EVERYTHING on it. I've been trying to keep the power consumption to a minimum since my electric bill is about $122 a month. And I only have 2 left at home now Peter, the others are long gone.

Yea a loaded CPU will eat more power, although I would of thought on that CPU it would be a small amount of extra power, just wondered anyway .
I guess the bigger problem with a laptop is that it could get very hot....

I used to run SETI with the TeAm, but stopped after SETI classic. I think I even ran Prime 95 until 08.

Just haven't had the same interest in any DC project as I did in the old SETI.

What would you say about it that particularly grabbed you?

(Btw did you crunch under a different name?)

Hi Ray! How ya been?

Busy. The company I work(ed) for was sold/split, torn asunder. I'm staying on with the new company, but there is a lot to do to finalize the split (it's a bit complicated). Wife had neck surgery to repair a ruptured disk in her neck (C56-67) a couple of weeks ago. It's a full time job trying to make sure she follows the Doctor's orders, man is she stubborn, lol!

Why? The hobby would loose some of its luster which would be repalced by greed. One part is to get the most out of existing hardware/software, which can be done with knowledge, enthusiasm and some time. Pay for that and at least the enthusiasm for the issue (here: crunching and getting most of the hardware/software) will be replaced. After some time the reward (money) will be the main driving force - as in many other endeavors ...

Why? then you have to crunch for the EVGA-team. EVGA wants to have good results and good stats because ity helps their marketing. I do not want to contribute to a company's profit more than I do by buying their stuff ... and "free hardware" costs always by you paying more than the stuff is worth: electricity, replacing hardware, time ...
