Ok, I've changed my SetiQueue settings to be the same as Smoke's (including Admin password ). It still seems wierd to have 0.0.0.0 for the SetiQueue IP, but what the heck...I'm open for anything at this point I'm at about 88% on my current WU, hopefully it won't be too long to check out. If this doesn't work, I'll try a Winsock connection.

Let's just put it this way...

If I were a member of DSLR Team Starfire, I would be very sad at this moment, since IndyJaws is looking at 6 MEMBERS OF HIS SETIQUEUE CRUNCHING WU'S

To be absolutely sure, I loaded Shuxclams' script on another machine and it connected right away (and grabbed a WU)

Since we haven't figured out the network distribution yet, I won't have the mass of machines going right away, but I can start assimilation of the local machines tomorrow (via floppy). If I have enough time, that could be 50-60 more

YOU GUYS SO ROCK!!! THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!!

Sounds like fun! We'll see how the assimilation goes

I really hate to mess with a good thing now...do I want to change my SetiQueue back to OrangeKid's Queue? Otherwise, where will the stats be located (Berkeley, I assume?).

Me is proud.

I didn't have a clue what you and SoulAssassin and ConfusedBW and the others were talking about when you were going into all of the SERVICE INSTALL DETAILS. But I kept monitoring the thread and all of a sudden I realized that I might know a "little" about the current situation. I know you all were sort of ignoring me there for a while and I just went back and sat in the corner where I belonged. HA LOL

This is terrific news............I was really starting to get worried there for a while........especially when you were at your wits end.

So now my only advi[c]e is "take your time" and HURRY UP! ha ha LOL

I really hate to mess with a good thing now Good thought.

I just got back in from work and noticed there were a good 50 more posts than when I went to bed last night so I knew something big had happened. Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to tap the knowledge of anyone I worked with re: remotely editing the registry. If I remember correctly we have everything pretty much done except for the very first part. Not to be negative but I have a feeling that it might not be possible. I will make an effort to research it a little tomorrow but my schedule it already tight. In the meantime the more pc's we can get up and running via sneaker net the better.

Good job to all, this was a total team effort, and we should be proud of the way we all worked together to accomplish the task at hand.

Now let's put the nail in the proverbial coffin. I hear a wimpering coming from the corner, sounds like DSLR to me.

Smokeball, I could never ignore you - I was too ignorant to know what I was doing

Soul Assasin, I totally agree . You and Shuxclams (among others) helped keep my sanity . Don't spend too much time trying to figure out the network component. It'll come in time.

IndyJaws: Great to hear you got the client up and running. Now it's time to assimilate away! Once the stats addiction takes over you'll be assimilating everything you can get your hands on. As far as pointing it at Orange Kid's proxy, you don't have to do that for stats. As long as you're using the same Email address for all of your machines you'll get credit for all of the clients. The best place to look for your stats is your own local SetiQ. Play around with it a bit. You can go to it remotely by browsing to http://ipaddressort (of your SetiQ machine). From there look at your clients, daily production, etc. It's a cool and helpful program to monitor your clients.

Glad to have you with us!!!!!!

Since the 'auto-format' HTML doohickey (yes, that's the official term ) messed with Robor's post, the next to last line in his message should read:

"You can go to it remotely by browsing to http://ipaddress: port (of your SetiQ machine)." (remove the space between the : and the p.)

p.s. Awesome assimilation! We'll have to call you Cobra Junior!

all right i just read the whole thread and im changeing over to this metod. I have a few questions. let me set the sceen. I have 3 machines 1 server. all running 24/7 and they are all in my house so i have permission. here are the specs.
Server:
2x xeon 450Mhz 1 meg cache
win2k server

Family box:
450Mhz PIII
win2k

Linux box:
athlon 900Mhz
red hat 7.1

My rig:
1.3Ghz athlon
winXP pro

I got SetiQ loaded on my server. now i want to load these without using scrips cause i have never used scrips before and 3 of the machines are within feet of each other. i want to load the client on the 3 machines and im going to run the cpu1 and cpu2 on my server. i downloaded cpu1 and cpu2 and the CLI exe now i want to run the client hiden on my machines (i'm not going to worry about the linux box right now) and have them all use my seti name. can anyone tell me the next step?

well if your using seti driver in the proxy box add the ip of setiq (server machine) and the port the que is on (it defaults to 5517) then hey presto.
If just using the cli (like i do) create a shortcut to it and in the target box append -proxy serveriphereort then just copy this link to the start up folder and check start minimised. Thats how my small lan works
