Throwing around selling my 3rd gen ipad for a nexus 10. Any nexus 10 owners or even converts. I thought the Ipad was the end all for tablets, but after buying my note 2, I might be convinced otherwise. My only regret is the apps bought for my ipad.

Personally, repurchasing the apps is probably not a big deal. Probably for all the deluxe apps that you want, $20 will probably get you anything you can dream of. My worry would be whether or not you'd be able to get the apps you want on the N10. As of now, Android tablet optimized apps are way behind. I say this only because it actually looks like you're an tablet app user vs someone who just consumes media via built in OS features.

Well right now I have a few iPod apps and I don't care much for them on the ipad. Rebuying isn't my big issue. Are the non optimized apps on android as bad as the ones on the ipad with iPod versions. Dammit them for not slapping a msd card slot.

I never thought I would be onboard with an android tablet. Android phone rocks, I'm getting there with the tablet.

Now get airplay and I'm set.

Just keep it unless there is something specific Android has that you want. The Nexus 10 will be faster at times but it will also have a few more places that it lags or slows down.
Phone apps on Android tablets aren't nearly as bad as on iOS because they scale to use the resolution properly, the layout just won't change to make good use of the bigger screen.

Wait for the next one if you are looking for a big tablet and if you are currently happy with your iPad. But definitely try not to spend more in iTunes store if you are looking to switch. A person who I know wants to switch is pulling her hair out because she bought like 20+ movies and 10+ TV shows (plus countless songs) from iTunes store over the past couple years.

No. non optimized apps on Android looks million times better than iPod apps on the iPad. That said, N10 user reviews are meh. Have you considered N7?

Isn't google releasing a music matching service which matches music you already owned (including itunes format) and then places a digital copy on the cloud. Wouldn't this ease the transition (not the video and tv shows though.)

What are you expecting to gain with the Nexus 10?

Nothing specific, maybe unity as I have an an android phone. Tbh, I don't need to "upgrade" I've grown more comfortable with an android tablet as I bout my wife a tablet 2. I guess my real issue is messing around with my touchpad and android, never felt complete.

The N7 is just good value. It doesn't increase your functionality if your bottleneck is the Android tablet app ecosystem. If you're ditching an iPad you should have good reasons to.

They may look million times better than iPod apps, but in general iPod apps aren't bad at all, so I'm ok with them. A giant twitter and facebook are just as nonfunctional on my Nexus 10.

I've been there. It's not that great. I had an iPad 2 and TouchPad. I ditched my Touchpad practically. I go back to Android because I like rooting and installing ROMs. I do also like the ability to watch movies that are stored on my NAS. While the iPad was a great consumption reading device, I can only afford one. If I had another $500 to blow I'd definitely get an iPad 4.

I'd recommend you stay with the iPad. Why would you want to convert to Android?

I just can't see the Nexus 10 as an upgrade. Keep your iPad.

P.S. This was typed on a Nexus 7. Nice device but still a bit rough around the edges IMO. The best part about it is the price.

The right questions are "What do I need from my tablet that my iPad can't provide (and an Android device can)?," and "What can I do now with my iPad that I'll lose if I trade it for an Android device?" Fill us in on the former, and we'll see what we have to say about the latter.

Doesn't matter a whole lot on the music thing. There is DoubleTwist that can be used as a syncing client, and even if that didn't work, iTunes music has been DRM free for many years. iTunes songs are M4As as opposed to MP3s, but that is like the difference between AVI & MPG, almost everything made in the last 5-10 years should be able to decode both at the hardware level.

Movies and TV Shows... Doesn't matter where you bought them, if they are digital, they are locked down within an inch of their lives. Same with books. It is why I have been so hesitant to start buying TV shows on iTunes, the prices are usually reasonable, but the DRM is holding me back.

I'm selling my iPad 3. I'll most likely buy an iPad 4. I really do love Android, the Nexus phones and the Nexus 7 tablet. Android is great on smaller screens. But once you get to a 10 inch screen size the lack of tablet apps starts getting a bit disappointing.

Yeah, I'll likely never buy Movies or TV shows through a service just because it will be locked to one provider/platform. Until there is a universal platform that every company signs on to and provides all of their content, I'm not touching it.

But Music shouldn't be a problem off iTunes. Should be able to copy and play it on just about anything.

Android doesn't have many tablet specific apps. If you weren't happy with the iPad 3 because of apps, you won't gain anything with an N10.

It looks like you don't have real uses for a tablet. If you're not happy with the iPad 3, sell it and just use your Note2. The note is a phablet, that's your answer.

I am sort of in the same boat, I have had a iphone 4 for a few years and am pretty happy with it, except using Itunes, which I despise for the most part.

I bought a nexus 7 a few months ago and loved the form factor and using it but it is defintely a bit rough around the edges. however loved not having itunes and being able to access the file system without any BS program. However, the apps were not there, seemed to be a lack of games and alot of apps look weird and stretched out.

BUT I love the Android OS compared to IOS. Its much easier to tweak and customize, plus widgets are awesome.

I have an ipad 4 at home i just bought, still in the wrapping. I envison using a tablet for reading ebooks, surfing the web at home. Watching Tv and movies on the go and playing games. Having better apps is important and IOS games seem to be much better than Android ones.

Should I keep my ipad and just suck it up regarding IOS and Itunes?

iTunes is supposedly getting a major overhaul very soon. In fact Apple is already a month late, but hopefully before the end of the year.

Another nice thing about the iPads is the resell value. My 16GB iPad 3 is on eBay right now and the highest bid is $370 so far, so at the moment it'll only cost me $130 to upgrade. I imagine if I had bought a TF201 at the same time early this year I might be lucky to get $250 for it now.

I actually never once noticed a lack of tablet optimization with the N7 because it wasn't a 10 inch tablet. Being only ~7" I used it in portrait more often than not and it felt like a really big phone more than a small tablet. So apps looked and operated just fine.

I say suck it up. But then again I rarely buy music (1 album/2 years) so I don't interact with iTunes that much.
