Don’t know if it’s been said already. When you meet a boss and the dialogue starts, you can click on you other characters and move them around and stuff.

Turn based has always been my favorite. Even in games like Baldur's Gate, where it is in real time, I constantly pause and give orders, so in effect it plays out like turn based.

Some of the best games ever were turn based, including the Final Fantasy series, Heroes of Might and Magic, and Wizardry. I honestly don't get the love for real time games, because I guarantee there are times when pathfinding is wonky and aggravating to players; everything from RTS games to Arcanum suffers from this.
Action is ok when it's only you, but when there's a group it's much better to use turn-based combat, so can control what each character does without twisting your finger bones.

I've just finished the game at level 21,ending was not really hard but I had my group in good positions, crowd control really helps.

Very good game overall,I probably replay it later at some point.

I hate asking this, but where do I find the 2nd NPC to pick up for my party? Right now, I just have the mage that you find in the library. I'm at a point that I can't win anymore fights with just 3 in a party.

The fighter is in the inn in cyseal. Otherwise there's a room in the homestead where you can recruit more.

Do I need to join that guild first? I forgot what it's called at the moment.

You don't need to join, but it does give you a quest or two you would miss out on,anyway look in the inn.

I'm fighting some orcs that none of my status effects work on.. kind of annoying since that's how this game seems to work.

Resistances have some pretty nasty scaling with level. If you're a couple levels below, expect stuff to bounce off.

New companions are due in the next week or two. I will likely play it again with the new ones.

Rangers don't really suck. My party is 2 warriors, a Wizard, and a Ranger. The warriors keep everything occupied while the wizard lays the smack down, and the ranger is a solid spot damage to finish off wounded mobs. The Ranger allows me to focus damage way more effectively then another mage would, since so many of the mage's spells would cause a effect that would hit my warriors.

I started with a Fighter and a Rogue - the rogue i've started turning into a ranged character and she's pretty powerful so far, then again i'm only lvl 4 thinking about building a battlemage with the fighter. Also have Jahan and Madora though they just cost me all my gold to res, grrrr. Which skill line has a resurrect??

Game's a bit clunky and definitely very challenging even on Normal, I just completed the first "boss" at the lighthouse after something like 10 or 15 reloads!

Not too keen on all the dialog esp. the fact you kinda have to do it before fighting anything to earn some XP, at least in Cyseal

But i'm still interested in playing so it's doing something right

Witchcraft gets res skill at higher levels.

Bought the $70 collectors edition last night and started playing co-op with my buddy. Spend 3 hours playing and couldn't find Esmerelda in the first town. Seems too dialogue heavy with not enough action. Doubt we'll play it again.

Once you get out of first town around level 4 you start getting more action, second part of map has more action as well, start of game is a bit slow due to doing a lot of quests in town to get high enough level wise so you can win fights out of starter town.

Yes, lots of dialogue, lots of exploring, lots of figuring stuff out. No hand holding. That said, Esmerelda has her own shop in a large building. She's not hard to find unless you are completely addicted to having quest pointers telling you where to go at all times even if not given verbal, specific direction otherwise.

Action picks up much more once you start getting outside of that first city. The first few hours are a bit slow. I'd encourage you to keep going.

Otherwise, sounds like you should have done more research before picking up the game. Did you have any idea what you were getting yourself into?

Ya Nebor maybe you were expecting something more like Dungeon Siege? DS1 and 2 were amazing co-op

Rangers definitely don't suck.
My party was Cleric + Ranger. Cleric in this game is more like a paladin (and I kept her that way), with man-at-arms/water and later added witchcraft. The Ranger was ranged/earth and later added just a tad of scoundrel. The 2 companions were a pure melee and a pure wizard (fire/air/water). Perfect group I believe. The ranger with 'earth' would call spiders and wolves which is very 'Rangery' in the first round and then Twang/Twang/Twang away, with arrows for fire/cold/poison/armor breaking, she was extremely useful, and mid-way when she got charm arrow she was just my favorite character, sometimes she would charm twice, one at range (from Ranger) and one if an enemy was stupid enough to get close (from Scoundrel). Charm has a high chance of succeeding, and it basically is the best ability there is (overpowered IMHO), as for 2-3 rounds not only does the target not damage you, and not only does it damage your opponents, but the opponents also waste their attacks on the charmed mob. So much fun to watch them kill themselves!

I have a small problem, my (C drive decided to screw itself up the other day so I ordered a new one. I can't clone the old one as it is corrupt any way I can get my old saves into the new game installation? I can't even find where the saves are stored at the moment.

I've yet to leave the first town, and I'm already metagaming this thing to death. I'm on my third restart, and I'm hoping I can stick with my current loadout. My characters are level 4 or 5 is all. Fun/engrossing game so far though.
