F! You guys are making me want to buy this at full price...and I just picked up a dozen games on Steam's summer sale.

It's turned based like the Fallout 1/2 games or the new Shadowrun. Each character has action points and the number of points you have is defined by many variables. It's nicely done and the spell effects look nice.

Only for combat though, obviously. The rest of the experience is very smooth. My only complaint is that I'd prefer to move with WASD, not clicking, but I'll survive.

Do eet!! If you enjoy RPGs, especially old-school pen and paper RPGs, you'll love this.

This might be old news and I havn't played it, but I just stumbled upon a coop let's play video and it seems that other playing party members actually get to participate in dialog and even disagree with each other. Really cool.

Darn, I liked the Fallout 1/2 model but I'm really not in the mood for turn-based combat like this.

Was really hoping for some sort of Baldur's Gate-like combat.

Pretty cool so far. Only put about 1 hour into it (with character creation). Got through the tutorial dungeon and to the first town. Saw a burning ship with a bunch of people trying to put it out. Looked like one option would be to throw water barrels on it, another to get some buckets, but I had saved the rainstorm spell scroll (didn't use it to put out the fire in the dungeon earlier). Used that and called in a storm, which put out the fire.

Got + reputation for the town, and everyone started talking about how impressive it was

I'm away for the holiday weekend, and played a little on my Lenovo Yoga using Intel HD 4000 graphics. Works fine on ultra-low settings, but the game looks a lot better on my desktop at Ultra settings. Still, the game is so good I quickly forgot about the graphics, even in combat!

Just finished watching more videos. Looks like I'll need to buy this at full price. I wish I would have paid more attention during the steam sale.

Anyone known of any discounts? Looks really cool and I've started getting into these type of games lately. Also, it seems the devs are great and they are updating the game constantly. That is something that you don't see often.

I checked GMG and Gamersgate, who seem to always have discounts, and neither of them are even carrying the game. Amazon only has the UK import box for $50.

For those on the fence: this game is worth your $40. The devs are all over it right now too, so you can rest assured that it will be heavily supported for the foreseeable future. Stop questioning and buy it!

Just be aware in a week or two they (the devs) will go on vacation; so there will be a quiet period but rest assure they will respond when they come back.

Yea looks like they respond extremely quickly to requests and bugs. Can you play co op online with random people going through the campaign? If so how do you continue if you quit and come back or does it pair you with someone else?

Are you able to go from multiplayer co op to single player if the other person leaves ?

I freaking love this game. I love how all the spells interact with each other, which is what so many games miss. Teleport their ass right into a middle of a fire and watch them suffer

Is there anyway to change it so that your partner will automatically select a response during conversations? I rather role play with just one character than having to select responses for both.

Not sure. Yeah I found this much more fun in coop.

Not sure about everyone else but I've spent a lot of time wandering talking but not many fights. and those I've found have been level 6 and my guys level 2 ....just turned 3.

I'll admit I've restarted twice trying to settle on build I like . Think I'm going with battlemage and wizard. But of course all relative to skills anyway.

This game is surprisingly good. I could go for a little more action. But I'm very early in.

It's like neverwinter nights meets magicka...sorta.

I might even snag the dlc. Rare game worth full price . I did get it on summer sale.

I'm about to buy it despite sucking at these type of games but I can tell the devs worked hard and produced a quality game.

What would be the best pair for me to start out with?

You need to spend some time in the town getting info and all the quests, and then attack things in the right order as you level up. The game doesn't baby you. If you attack level 6 monsters when you're level 2, you'll die. Find and pick the fights you can win. And use the environment to your advantage. Cold and lightning spells in the rainy part of the world are great. Combining midnight oil and any fire spell also lets you control an environment. Think and plan before you attack!

You get a fighter and a wizard in town towards the start. So I started with a wayfarer (ranger with heals) and a battlemage and I've been loving it.

A cleric would likely be useful too at the start.

1. Ok what is up with the multiplayer with this game.. YOu are just joining someone else game. (Is the storyline not as important?)

2. It seems like the optimal choice is Cleric and fighter. If I don't have a cleric, would I have to be a potion chuggler?

I haven't tried multi-player, but the story is good and I would play the game before multi if you miss it in multi.

As for classes, I disagree on cleric and fighter. You get a fighter in town early on, and spell users are great for crowd control and environment manipulation. I've found my wizard, battlemage, and the witch abilities I've chosen on other characters to be invaluable so far at level 7. Either way, you should definitely have at least one heal spell, but so many classes can heal, and you can always throw a point into hydrosophist on any class to get minor heal.

You pick two characters when you start? At least that is what people were doing in the lets play YouTube videos. I'm just not sure which would be optimal for me. Also, if the game does not guide you through stuff how do you know which enemies are too powerful to fight? Can you run away if they are too tough?

Yes, you start with two, and you can recruit more after the starting area.

You shouldn't fight anything more then one level above your party. And save often. At least once per turn in combat. F5 is your new best friend. Sometimes you can run. And there is a skill that lets you flee more easily but it's not worth it in my opinion since you can just reload if a turn goes badly.

Basically, just slowly explore once you leave the town, and stay away from tough fights and pick your battles carefully.

You can give the the second character an AI (loyal or random) and that seems to work sometimes. To be honest, I don't quite understand what it does as the second character will only sometimes answer automatically. Sometimes I still need to select their dialogue.

There's also the option to uncheck "enable dual dialogues" but I think that may disable their conversations entirely which I don't want.

Exactly how did I miss this game up till now? I know that I'm pretty lazy when it comes to clicking links when I'm unfamiliar with the title, but still...

Well, I know what I'll be paying for today, and then que'ing up for download tonight when I go to bed.

This is exactly my kind of pc game.
