Having to control both character's dialogue choices was one of my main complaints when I first started playing. The patch made it better but I still don't know how much of a difference the different personality types made. I picked free for my second player but after having to redo an section over I noticed that his dialogue choices changed. I checked by reloading again and once again his choices were random. I expected them to be fixed choices but to do that the devs would have to go through each line of dialogue and assign it to specific personality. That would take a ton of time and I imagine if they ever get to it it's low on the totem pole. Until then, it seems the 2nd player's dialogue choices are random.

This might help though choosing AI personalities.

However loyal as mentioned above will ensure they always agree with your decisions. IMHO however that defeats the purpose of having AI profiles in the first place and takes away from the RPG nature of having a party.

I just chose random which worked fine for me. There were a couple of times it was annoying, usually in quests with a quiz, but overall it went fine. Loyal seems silly to me.

Thanks. I thought other than random and loyal the ai personalities would have fixed dialogue decisions and wouldn't vary. For example, one time my ai partner chose independent and reloading on the same dialogue he chose obedient. Maybe it's just a bug since I picked free (I wanted someone who was independent) and that's supposed to be combined with spirit. Or it could be that since it was just patched in there's still some bugs that need to be worked out.

I didn't want to pick loyal since I don't like having my partner always agreeing with me. I just want them to be consistent in their choices.

Halfway through a second playthrough (2 lone wolf chars, hard). I can't remember the last time I started playing a game again right after I finished it.

Loving glass cannon on my Enchanter. I can cast Ooze Spray, then Flare, and still have enough AP to buff my Knight with Oath of Desecration and Bless.

If I play again, definitely doing lone wolves. Possibly as zombies.

I'm loving the game but definitely won't replay it (I never replay RPGs), but I'm looking forward to what the modders will do. I'm hoping for a remake of the Gold Box games like Pool of Radiance and what not, or maybe even something like Ravenloft or Dragonlance! *mouth waters*

Sorry for the off topic response here, but that Ben Franklin quote is 100% fake. The US Constitution doesn't even mention the pursuit of happiness, that is the Declaration of Independence. Hopefully one of the authors would know which document is which because the person that made up the quote didn't.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

The editor is borked, and apparently the devs are on vacation.

Thought I'd whip up a thing where you had four to eight hard fights, with a 'god' leveling you up as you go; but the editor crashes every time I try to reload a level (which has to be done).

Had that gameplay mod in mind. And, making the 'Lucky Charm' skill give you the ability to re-roll chest loot. Instead of quick saving and reloading, thought it could be good alternative; every chest you open, you can re-roll the loot X times, where X equals your Lucky Charm skill.

Editor won't let me play though.

I like the Lucky Charm system, but can you stop the reloading for loot with the mod?

Just got to the part in phantom forest where you find out Janah's back story. No spoilers here, but it's pretty awesome. If you aren't using him, I suggest swapping him in right after Hunter's Edge for a few mins as you enter the forest just to hear his tale. Good stuff. I'd play a game just based on his story. Someone should write it in the editor

At this point the DLC is really just some art/music/non-game stuff, and two in-game items, one of which (Zandalor's underwear) is funny but useless. The golden Grail is very useful early on though because you can use it to make vendor trash worth a lot more, thereby giving you tons of gold to buy new gear with without having to steal everything in town. I bought the DLC because the game was on sale when I bought it, but I probably wouldn't have bought it if the game itself was full price. Still, the game is so awesome, the developers deserve the extra few bucks, imo.

So, after finding out how to use the Grail the other day I've been playing with it, and so far it only seems to affect chest armor. Is there something I'm still missing?

It affects some other stuff too I think. Sarongs and bracers I think too. Just play with it to see what it does.

I restarted my game and made two mages ,now at level 6 with my full group, quick question is it worth spending any points in two handed weapons for staff?

No, I don't think so. High level spells require 5 ability points in the respective spell type to not get penalized, so I wouldn't unless you are going for some kind of melee/caster hybrid. For a pure caster, the staff is just a stat stick.

Fstime thanks for your input,I'm also not sure if adding points to crafting for making magic scrolls is worth it so any opinions on that?

if you take the default companions, just make Jahad the 'go-to' crafter, he has an inherent +1/+1 for blacksmith/crafting, and then you'll probably find bracers or rings or something that adds +1 to them and keep them in his backpack, so you only need to update his crafting to 3/3 and you're good to go.

Crafting and blacksmithing are well worth it in my opinion. For mages, you can craft skill books from scrolls (and scrolls from paper), which is a nice perk. Crafting also lets you add resistance to armor (to all four elements with a ruby, e.g.), nails to boots (immunity to slipping), and add scales or metal plates to armor to beef up defense. You can also craft rings and belts, although high level gear will far outstrip belts and rings you can make.

Blacksmithing is great for removing movement penalties from heavy armor and for making edged weapons OP using a whetstone.

I leveled blacksmithing on Jahan, and crafting on one of my mains, and I'm happy I did.

Crafting is the only way to mitigate the crappy RNG loot even in vendors. My Ranger is using a bow 7 levels too low since I haven't found anything worthwhile in a long time. My mage is even worse on her staff since I never find +1 staffs. +1str like hotcakes. You can always hire a npc from the hall of heros and make them your crafter. swap them in and out when you need to make something. No point in wasting skill points on your main party.

Skill points are pretty plentiful, with the secrets merchant selling a book that gives 3 skill points a level. If you do the majority of quests, hitting level 22 is easy by the last battle.

On my two lone wolf hard run, my Enchanter has level 5 - Pyro, Geo, Aero, Hydro, Witchcraft, Loremaster, Bodybuilding, and Willpower (at level 19 in Hunter's Edge).

My Knight has 24/18/17 AP (max, start, turn), and my Enchanter has 22/11/20 AP. Knight has maxxed resistances except Tenebrium (60%), and takes no damage from anything (always full health because no enemies do only slashing/physical). Enchanter takes damage from fire/poison, but has so much turn AP it doesn't matter (can teleport/boulder/greater regen/become air or invisible each round).

When you really do try and max characters, the game becomes pretty easy. Took me 140ish hours to figure that out though

Might be ten yeas before I get another game like this. Sad it is over; first game I've hoped for a big DLC.

I love this game but it has some serious balance problems...

I don't mix-max at all. Long ago I stopped 'reloading' to get good stuff at chests. I only bought those skill&stat books twice. I don't craft. Still I find the game too easy, probably because balance is out of whack.

Leech is a joke: each attack my meleers get, say for 150 damage... 128 is absorbed by armor so they get 22, and then leech makes them recover 80... per hit! Enemies also almost never use pets (only seen one summon so far), enemies are also very stupid in their pathfinding, very frequently moving back and forth without doing anything. Also they seem to love attacks of opportunity because you just have to put a meleer next to them and their stupidity will take care of the rest.

The game was challenging, I don't know, maybe the first 7 or 8 levels, but after that it lost its edge. I'm still enjoying it for the exploration and puzzles, but not the battles themselves as to me challenge = fun, and there is no challenge.
