"I believe in marriage," he says, breaking down recalling how soothing it was to come home at night to hear the sound of Cormier's flute wafting out the window of their home.

Fuuuuck. I'd probably kill myself if I was in his position. I'm not reading the entire article - but wtf? He's responsible for her medical costs, alimony, etc., and they have no kids?

They had an agreement, then a law was passed that required him to pay more, and a divorce judge made him liable for that amount retroactively. And now he makes less than the monthly amount he's supposed to pay, yet he's still liable for the full amount. Proper fucked.

The worst part is he apparently tried to get her to finish school and start a career, but she just dabbled in craft-based home businesses that kept failing. He was even encouraging her to go to Europe to study music.

They dropped out of school in grade 10 together (although he finished college at night school later), she's 51 now and has done fuck all her entire life.

Normally I would never agree to a solution like that, but in this case I would. A life in hiding has to be better than a life like that.

And the fact that they were married apparently gives her the right to continue doing fuck all for the rest of his life.

Wow, the pain must be unbearable.

Seriously. :disgust:

Maybe it's a good idea to seek citizenship in a non-extraditing country just in case something liek this were to happen. . .

I normally don't advocate running from your problems, but in this case I would literally advise him to run from this problem. He should definitely leave. Permanently.

Then his moron ex-wife would have to actually work instead of relying on someone else to treat her like a child.

..it's a huge risk. presented with similar risks on a financial investment most wouldn't risk the likely down side.

Off the judge, off the wife, and wait for the police to arrive with a big smile on your face.

Yeah, what a ho-bag. My wife has fibro, reynauds, lupus and chronic migraines, all of which create a pain management scheme requiring a bit more than some fucking Advil.

Yet she manages to work a full time job without crying about it.

Holy cow, that is an insane story. I can see how the guy could easily become suicidal, if not already.

I too agree with the line of thought that maybe this is the rare once-in-a-million time that it is best to just run from the problems.

Fixed. Prenups don't mean jack nowadays. Even living together for many years can make you end up forking over cash in some states.

Works quite well but what works even better is after a few days tell them to shake their ass back home. Never let a woman move in if you value your sanity!

Been married, been divorced, I prefer divorced. Ask a man who's been married for awhile if they'd do it again and most will answer HELL NO!
