What is with you and "spinning" ? What I stated is a fact, it has nothing to do with spinning.
And my point was about country music, that saying it "all sucks" is narrow-minded.
I can say this because I am confident that anyone who says this, has not listened to "all country" music, and therefore is drawing a conclusion without all the facts.
None of that is "spin" as far as I can tell. If you think it is, tell me more precisely why ?
Having a different opinion than someone else, isn't "spin" is it ?
Alll new Country sucks . Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Merle Hagard, Hank Williams are/were great.Originally posted by: kogase

Well, you almost had a point, but then I came along. I have listened to every Country song ever written. It all sucks.

I was joking of course, but I think this is interesting. To me Johnny Cash isn't even Country, although I guess technically he's a part of that genre. He seems more like American folk music, in that his songs are so nationally universal in appeal that they qualify as simply "American" music.

Sorry mate, their cover was one of the worst covers of any song I have ever heard IMO. I hate it when they get into that "AH ahhhhhhh" in between the breaks...*shudders*. Smashing Pumpkins did a MUCH better cover of Landslide, a respectable tribute to Fleetwood Mac.

Really dislike most country music. Started listening to DC after they crapped on the administration. Now I have all their albums, and listen to some of their stuff regularly. I wouldn't say I love their music, but I'll support ANYONE who calls president on his utter stupidity.

I can live with that quite happily. As long as I support those who oppose, I'm doing the best I can do.

They didn't STAND UP for anything.
they took a cheap shot at the president and it jumped back and bit them in the ass.
they cannot apologize because it will make them look weak. so, they struggle with record sales in the USA, cut some tour dates because the tickets wont sell and now they are pushing their tours in other countries where they can do the 'hate the administration' to a like minded audience.
I am not a fan of their music, but that is because I am just not a fan of their music.

The album was #1 for three weeks - that's marvelous for a country act, on a pop and rap dominated chart. Not only that - but according to their website - more dates were just added to their tour roster.
Sounds like you've been feeding off the same negativity Hannity and O'Reily have been spewing, who still find time to talk about the Dixie Chicks everyday (providing them with more exposure than they could ever want, I might add).

and this one:
" June 2006 Emily Robison commented to the Telegraph in the UK on the exploitation of the war in Iraq found in many country music videos, "A lot of pandering started going on, and you'd see soldiers and the American flag in every video," Robison said. "It became a sickening display of ultra-patriotism." Maines continued, "The entire country may disagree with me, but I don't understand the necessity for patriotism. Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why? You can like where you live and like your life, but as for loving the whole country ... I don't see why people care about patriotism."
were anti-war comments. Hell, I'm not a Texan, and I'M ashamed that Dubya is from Texas...
Whether you like them for it or not, America has always stood for freedom of speech, and deriding someone who has a different opinion than the popular one sounds kind of un-American

I see nothing wrong wiht this. They're selling well in large metropolitain areas, and in Canada. They have a new base (I'd even wager to say a more affluent base also), and they're selling to them. They're doing just great for being at the "lowest point of their career" (as some say).
