and please, keep in mind that I think Bush is a total idiot. I just personally have a huge aversion to Natalie Maines because I think entertainers need to take their political views, shove them up their bottoms and just entertain me. If you've got a statement to make, it will come through in your lyrics. It's one of the big reasons I hated Rage Against the Machine and a huge reason I can't stand listening to Tim Robbins, George Clooney or any of the other Hollywood propagandists.

When I want to have political rhetoric shoved down my throat, I'll turn on Sean Hannity or Air America. I shouldn't have to listen to that ****** on Entertainment Tonight or at a music concert.

I listen to the radio for hours on end at work, and change stations when I get tired of too much of one genre. I haven't heard a Dixie Chicks song in years. I didn't even know they had a new album out.

You're twisting my statement. If you have a political agenda, throw it into your lyrics so people can CHOOSE to listen to it or not. Don't spout that ****** off to the press or throw it out at a concert.

I would agree with this statement. Country music goes through cycles. Every 5-10 years you'll get a few innovative musicians who break out of the mold and create really original music. Then during the interim years, country labels will (unsuccessfully) attempt to clone these musicians. Anyone who tries to be slightly different, either with their music or personality, will be shunned. These interim periods (which we're hopefully toward the end of) are when country really sucks.

Fortunately the Dixie Chicks were able to diversify their fan base so they weren't forced to "conform or die".

Totally missing my point, again. It's okay to explore political issues through music. Hell, I do it with my music. But don't come out of left-field thinking you wield some kind of political power after releasing a bunch of CDs that are the most basic country-pop drivel.

they have a platform to speak their minds. If they feel strongly enough about what they believe and have that platform to speak it, all the power to them.

I do agree with that.

But whining about people who refuse to buy their albums or play their music just makes them look stupid and greedy.

I don't know why the press makes it as if there win is some sort of redemption.

The Grammys, SAG awards and some other are just ways for hollywood and the music industry to pat themselves on the back.

how many music awards are there now. 4, 5 maybe? Then you get to acting, there must be a ton of them.

The awards these people get are meaningless. Its an item they put on their resume to demand bigger contracts.

Correction, the people who vote on these awards are others within the music industry, not the consumer.

Popularly recognized voting members include Jon Bon Jovi, Prince, Paul Simon, and Beyoncé Knowles.
