eek, belt drive. i would say save some money and get direct drive. i guess the price isn't too bad though, just make sure you cut some record-size wax paper to place under your slipmats, and DO NOT use the rubber record mats.

also, since these are belt drive you should be careful not to put so much pressure on the platter that it will slow it down cuz this will wear out your belts.

yeah, KidViciou$ is right. Belt drives wear down pretty quickly. I have learned with dj gear, you really get what you pay for. If you are really serious about becoming a dj, you might want to invest in direct drive tables. A pretty decent deal for 2 belt drive tables, a mixer, & a pair of headphones though.

if you are all serious about DJ'ing (meaning you might someday want to play at a club or party on different turntables) get Technics 1200s or at least direct drive turntables with a similar feel. if you asked me to play on belt-drive turntables i'd laugh at you.

Joker, you're the man!! There's no doubt about that. However, as kctopitz stated above, if you're planning to be a "DJ", you definitely want direct drive tables. 1200's are industry standards and have been for over 20 years. Again, JS you're the man!!!

that is the truth. when i was 14, i got a job at burger king so i could buy my first 1200. luckily i had a friend who bought the second one, and we kept them at my house.

and to think, i almost spent $300 on some used lineartech 1600's and gemini mixer when i first started!

i have never used anything other than the 1200's for more than 1 night
