I owned and rode a '79 CB750 for about a year and a half. It sure was heavy. 650lbs by Honda's specs. Wouldn't want to attempt the DMV riding portion of the test on that beast that's for sure.
There's a reason smaller, lighter bikes are recommended for beginners. They are easier to control, more forgiving to mistakes, and they allow you to learn faster than you would on a heavier and/or more sport oriented bike.
i totally agree. but, if youve been riding the same bike for a few years and then go do the test (not really recommending this lol) it is lightyears easier than doing it on a smaller bike with little experience. after riding my cb750 for years, i could creep a figure 8 without even stressing. the stopped balance was easy as well, since i used it on a daily basis in rush hour traffic.
so, it goes back to how well the OP knows the bike he is going to use for the test, regardless of its size and handling. a smaller bike would surely be easier than a larger one, and depending on what kind of mods the race replica had it may be a hindrance rather than a help.
