He blew his shot to be a serious candidate by making the pledge in the first place. Now he looks like every other politician willing to go back on his word when it suits him.
The consistent feedback Lessig got, including from people here, was that he needed to drop the "resign after reforms are passed" strategy.
"Going back on your word" would mean the original plan is still possible. I don't see anyone saying it is.
