On my Window 2000 Pro machine, which resides on a network, I have the problem of constantly losing my connectability to web pages. When I reboot, it's back to normal (for awhile). What happens is I'll try to browse to a web site and can't find it. The IE6 page that finally comes up says ... "i The page cannot be displayed. The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings." And it says "Please try the following:", then lists possible problems with browser settings, network settings, etc. At the bottom of the page it says "Cannot find server or DNS Error". I have no unusual settings that I could find.
Other hosts on my workgroup (also W2K) do not have the problem; we are all connected to the same hub. We are connected to a large company LAN and access the Internet through a proxy server. I'll be browsing fine then suddenly can't find any sites. The network connection is fine, as is my POP3. I'm not sure but I think I lose FTP connections when this problem occurs, using WS-FTPle.
Our workgroup is strictly peer to peer, but the to access the Internet we have to go through a firewall. Any ideas?
