Do you mean Superfetch, or Readyboost? Because I notice a huge difference with Superfetch, the more RAM the better. Readyboost however, I can notice a bit of difference with 2GB RAM, and none with 4GB.

Just a particular note with SuperFetch. It's not something you can turn off and on and get an instant speed boost as Vista requires a little bit of time to study your usage habbits.

The longer the time the better in my experience. Very impressed actually.

I like superfetch. Way better than XP's memory cache(which seemed nearly useless).

8GB makes my computer a slug when it boots but after the cache is finally filled, everything zooms along.

And it just so happens I don't reboot very often =)

I don't experience any apparent slowdowns when my 4gb machine is booted and superfetch is filling RAM. I do get a solid HD LED for a while but if I'm not looking at it I really wouldn't notice it.

It's not so much that it's slower but that it's not as fast

But some things that are disk-bound are slower though. For some reason not all of the SuperFetch process is set to idle IO priority (according to Performance Monitor).

You can't compare by toggling, since Superfetch won't have had time to learn your user habits yet.

It's one of those features that quite frankly, is something you may or may not be able to "feel" & that i believe will never be really something one can properly compare with or without as such.

Just enabled it on 8Gb RAM, will let you know if I notice anything. To be honest, not expecting much, as I don't have a "normal" usage pattern, so good luck to vista learning what to cache...

With 8GBs it wouldnt surprise me if it caches nearly everthing you have ever opened

got my E8400 machine up and running lastnight. Spent about 20 minutes churning on the HD and topped out at 1.8GBs used. As I install more applications hoping to see it rise over 2GBs.

All I know is that Firefox opens instantly seconds after booting my computer. That alone is enough for me to love it.

You'd be surprised. MS's work on Superfetch revolves around the fact that nobody has "normal" usage patters. The whole point of Superfetch is its adapatability. And although you might think your usage patterns are totally crazy, chances are, you're a lot more predictable than you think.

Yeah, I suppose thats true. The one thing it should learn, is to cache Firefox like theres no tomorrow, and it seems to have helped

Superfetch is good.
Readyboost is meh. If you have a choice of readyboost or more ram, always go with more ram. Readyboost is just for that last 10% of performance, and is really only useful for slower laptop harddrives anyway.
