Do Case Windows Increase Noise?

Electrical noise or audio noise? It probably would let out more electrical noise, as a window wouldn't have the shielding properties of steel/aluminum. For audio noise, I don't think that the difference would be big, but that's just an educated guess.

Well....some of those windows are loose fitting. They make more noise. Also without the window you can line the case with acoustic noise-reduction material.

umm, probably not by enough to matter. Especially if the window material is thick and stiff and is mounted properly.

mordrid52, in my experience I would say no; there wasn't any difference when I installed a window in my rig. I have to admit that the molding is extremely tight, it took me more time to install the molding that to cut out the hole w/ a jug saw! Hope this helps

I've found that in large cases windows can actually decrease vibrations, as they are mounted in a lot of rubber and break up large side panels that tend to flex and vibrate, creating noise. My very large case is slightly quieter.

among other things.

I'd say it probably makes it quieter. The plexiglass is a bit more massive than aluminum and doesn't transmit hi freq vibration as well.

Mind you electronic noise goes through the roof! Don't face your plexiglass towards your monitor
