I'd rather have a Toyota Tundra TRD extended cab w/4.7 liter 245HP DOHC V8 (most advanced truck engine, basic engine used in the LS400) over ANY other pickup including the lame Silverados and even the RAM V-10.

As far as sophistication, that DOHC modular based 5.4 V8 has nothing on the 4.7 from Toyota.

I am not so sure of the specs of the 4.7 L. What are they. I like the 5.4 because it is 32V DOHC and can make masssive power with a blower and stock internals.

Towing??????????????????????? How many damn pickup trucks are used for towing anymore? They're used like cars nowadays just like sport-utes. Why the heck do you think that they are now sporting 4 dours on the F-150, Dakota, Frontier, etc? B/C they are used as town runabouts, not workhorses. Heck, you even see many with car seats in the back for the little kiddies. Hell, it's hard for me to find a '97 or above pickup that has any dirt on it at all.

And advanced does come into play when you're talking about emissions and fuel economy.

I agree with NFS4 in regard to what trucks are used for. I think my family goes against the grain. My Dad's Chevy truck is always hauling stuff and so is my mother's explorer. Hell, my mustang had to haul a bunch of computer sh!t and some cat litter the other day.

I don't know. I really liked the horror movie based commercials but I haven't seen one in awhile. They just showed different shots from horror movies where people were trying to start their cars but of coarse they wouldn't start. Then at the end it said something like &quot;should have bought a Chevy&quot;.

with regards to towing and what trucks are used for, you have to look at your surroundings. In the city I come from, noone has bedcovers and if you scratch your truck, oh well. It is a huge misconception that trucks aren't used for hauling and towing like they used to be.

'81K5 Blazer with a '74 454, not only pulls me through the mud, but also pulls our fully loaded suntracker(boat) up and down hills with no problem what so ever.

Japanese propaganda? GreekGod, you mean to tell me that GM makes cars that WE want? Like you really think I want to drive around a POS Malibu over a Camry? Have you ever driven one of them? I have to go on business trips alot and out of necessity (company is AVIS member) need to rent GM cars. Those things are about the worst POS I've ever driven. Have you looked at Pontiacs at all? If I want to buy a ribbed product it sure ain't gonna be a Grand Am or Bonneville.

I don't think GM has the consumer in mind when they build their car (maybe with the exception of the Corvette). They want to make the least expensive to build, mass produced, high margin product that they can shove down consumers throats. GM's attitude is not unlike that of old world monopolies that have seen their heydays come and go (ATT, IBM, etc.)

Just because GM improves their manufacturing process doesn't make them a better company. If it weren't for Toyota and Honda, you would be driving your Cadillac Cimarron, Ford Pinto, Chrylser K to the shop every 2 weeks.
