Peachy. What would you say about relative susceptibility to conspiracy theory on the left & the right?

They're just as bad? It's what you've offered throughout.
The NYT article I posted showed evidence of equal susceptibility, because susceptibility is a function of partisanship and perceived power or perception of control.

I already conceded that for the present, the right is leading the crazy.

You moved the goal posts by agreeing to objective criteria and then modifying that criteria to support your second point.

Never claimed equivalence and this is what you still fail understand, but you’ve double downed on whatever point you think you are making.

I consider him a mainstream left peddler of conspiracy. He is not red faced about it.

I noticed you completely failed to address the washington DC shooter motivated by left wing mainstream media or the NYT article I provided.

Keep flailing about Alex Jones
You really want to compare lefty shooters and righty shooters?

Sure, let’s go there. I used to be a huge John McCain fan...until he projected Sarah Palin onto the national stage.

Palin repulsed me. Her “target” stunt offended me, because we all know what dog whistle she was blowing.

I hold her responsible for the attempt on Giffords, despite even the NYT’s retracted the editorial asserting that connection. Doesn’t matter if it directly motivated the Giffords shooter, because its not the first time the fringe right has appealed to “2nd Amendment” solutions.

The Giffords incident was the final straw for me to become politically active in gun control.

So yes, I am very well aware that the right, and its heated rhetoric, push people to violence.

Doesn’t change the fact that in the case of the story I cited, rhetoric from the left created an analogous monster.

If you were to name shooters motivated by rhetoric from the right, I would acknowledge them.

I name a shooter motivated by rhetoric from the left, and people marginalize, rationalize and dismiss it.

Just take it as a clue that you've been marching with easily manipulated morons. Then figure out why you're with them.

I haven't been " marching " with anyone that believes that tripe.

So I'm not with "them".

Because no left wing media that I am aware of actually call for resistance or action other than getting out to vote.

What about the ridiculous conspiracy theories conservatives believe in?

I mean, you know, like Birtherism...
Show me where I’ve rationalized, denied or dismissed birtherism. I’ve acknowledged and condemned when the right legitimized conspiracy. I’ve acknowledged that Trump is the first President to legitimize the most dangerous elements of the right fringe.

But I’ve also pointed out that the left engages in analogous behavior, with valid examples, and you start throwing intellectually dishonest hissy fits and argue over semantics.

The issue is, the right has turned the fringe into mainstream while the left hasn't. Nobody on the left sends out ridiculous emails like someone's dumbass racist grandmother would like "Fw: Fw: Fw: Fw: Fw: IS OBAMA A SECRET MUSLIM SOCIALIST WITH A FAKE BIRTH CERTIFICATE SENT HERE TO DESTROY AMERICA???"

To even suggest that both sides peddle in delusional conspiracy theories to the same degree is highly suspect.

Meanwhile Sean Hannity actually peddled in the allegation that Hillary Clinton had Seth Rich killed.

Edit: i mean look at sp33ddemon, he posted that conspiracy theory that CNN scripted the town hall even by trying to force a student to ask a scripted question, when it came out that the student's father literally doctored an email, sp33demon won't back down and is still sticking to his guns. Stop pretending that the left and right are two sides of the same coin.

I am well aware there are gun nuts doubling down hard on the whole crisis actor thing, and that people like Hannity legitimize such nonsense.

For the millionth time, I am not asserting equivalence.

However, I was also asked to provide examples of analogous behavior on the left, and I can’t think of a better example than the Congressional baseball game shooter. I’ve provided others, but they get dismissed by semantics and changing qualifiers.

A person already unhinged, bombarded on social media and left wing mainstream media with a daily dose of RESIST and REGIME and FASCISM and all the dog whistle Fw: Fw: Fw: nonsense, with words like DESTROY...eventually its going to incite someone to violence.

I just want one of you to show some integrity and acknowledge that.

Yep- somebody offered you a segue into whataboutism & you've been riding it ever since. Yo even offer up a new conspiracy theory- that the baseball game shooter was a victim of evil MSM left wing propaganda.

Then link me to one of those posts.

Relevant quotes:

“Hodgkinson's online presence was largely defined by his politics. For example, his public Facebook posts date back to 2012 and are nearly all about his support for liberal politics.“

“Hodgkinson's own descriptions on social media portray him as an avid consumer of political shows. His favorite television shows were listed as "Real Time with Bill Maher;" "The Rachel Maddow Show;" "Democracy Now!" and other left-leaning programs.”

“His favorite movie? The documentary "Inequality for All," featuring progressive economist Robert Reich.”

“He had also joined several anti-GOP Facebook groups, including "Terminate The Republican Party;" "The Road to Hell Is Paved With Republicans;" and "Join The Resistance Worldwide!!"

So it looks like we have a communication problem here. I asked for a link showing "left wing" media calling for action or resistance. You know, something similar to Caribu Barbie's target thing. You aren't doing that. You are linking to a guy who claims he was motivated by left wing media but there is no proof that it was all in his mind, or even more likely, that he is desperately trying to blame anyone or anything but himself for what he did.

I've never even heard of those Facebook groups, so I am guessing they fall squarely in the fringe category.

You don't get it, Starbuck just wants people to know that crazy people exist. Some are on the left and some are on the right. Its akin to letting everyone know, "hey guys, water is wet". Well thanks for that piece of brilliant insight!

Well, he's like two other posters around here that I won't name that share the same dilemma: Everything they believed and were sold as the GOP political mantra has been a total lie the entire time.

And now the contradictions and falsehoods pile up about their belief system and they refuse to deal with it...

So, instead of facing it and moving forward, they'd rather play "both sides" or "fake news".....

The sad thing is that jackalas was supposed to be enlightened and awaken to the lies he's been fed. He realized that trickle down economics was a lie and he saw the light and changed his views. What I don't understand is, if he realizes that he was lied to his entire life about economics why doesn't he question everything else he's been told?

He continues to believe and accept the reality the liars have created for him. I just don't get it.

No. The shooter is dead, so we don’t know what motivated him. I am linking to a story where the mainstream media got access to his social media presence, and in their forensics, discovered that rhetoric spread over numerous left wing media channels set him in motion, determined by his Facebook messages that I assume for legal and other reasons they cannot release, even with redactions.

In their forensics, CNN felt it appropriate to name Rachel Maddow and Robert Reich as influences, and given their repeated calls for resistance and classifying the Trump Administration as a regime, I could see how someone might interpret that as a dog whistle call to arms.

You guys are stuck on this whole mainstream versus fringe thing. You want evidence that the left has raving mad talk radio personalities projecting fringe ideas into the mainstream.

I already conceded the point that they do not.

But, as evident by the shooter story, raving mad talk radio hosts are not the only delivery mechanism for fringe ideas to enter the mainstream.
