Do I need an upgrade?

Here's the thing, I dunno if I need an upgrade or not. The upgrade bug has come back in full force and I really want an upgrade.

So here's my system, also could you tell me what it's worth also? A friend was inquiring about purchasing my system from me since he needs a new one and doesn't want to wait for me to build and order parts for his.

Specs: (all parts are retail boxed parts)

- MSI K7T Turbo KT133a
- AMD Duron 850MHz (never overclocked)
- CoolerMaster hs/f
- 512MB Crucial PC133 Cas2
- Maxtor 40GB u100 7200rpm
- Hercules Prophet GeForce2 MX
- US Robotics 56k WinModem
- Lite-On 12x10x32x cd-rw
- Pioneer 106 16x dvd
- Genica 48x cd-rom
- Teac 1.44 floppy
- SuperPower Concord with 300-watt SH psu

That's about the specs of my system right now. How much is it worth and what should I upgrade to if I do decide to upgrade?

What do you use your comp for? If only for games and internet and office applications, consider just a new video card.

Nothing much really. A little coding here and there, some Photoshop, burning cd's and the likes. Not a lot of gaming.

Put it this way, I bought the MX when it first came out because I gamed. Haven't gamed since then.

youre fine, how old are you? do You have a job? If you do than upgrade your whole system, if you dont youre fine

Yes I have a job. LOL!

I can upgrade if I want. I just replaced my burner, dvd, and cd-rom with the ones listed. I dunno why, just felt like it.

The CPU is less than two months old. Got it for my g/f but she wouldn't let me buy a 1.33GHz so she said she'll take my 800MHz Duron and I get the 850MHz.

So now I'm stuck trying to figure out if I want to sell this system or keep it and upgrade it.

drop the MX and get a GF2 Pro....you'll be much happier

If you don't play games that system will do just fine.

How about getting a broadband connection instead? It'll be much faster than your 56K modem.

I really, really want broadband. But the parent's won't get it. I'm going to sign up for it soon. But 60 bucks a month isn't really that appealing at the moment.

But yah, I think broadband is the only thing I need now.

I would just overclock it if it's goin a little slow for you, I was on an athlon 600 (never overclocked it either) with a voodoo5 up until like 2 weeks ago and I didn't really *need* to upgrade, I just did because I upgraded for so cheap, plus I doubled my speed in the proccess and got DDR and a new video card (gf2pro)

You didn't mention what type of monitor you have. Maybe you could upgrade to an 18 inch LCD or 22 inch CRT?

I have never been a big fan of WinModems, but if you aren't gaming its probably fine.

Overall, your system seems plenty for the use you described.
