I'm about to place an order for E6600 C2D and was thinking to get or not to get a CPU cooler. The system will not be overclocked. Do I really need after market CPU cooler or the one that comes in retail box will work just fine?

I kinda get used to my Zalman 9500 on my current rig which is not overclocked ether. I know having CPU cooler won't heart anything ether but do I need it?

I do use heatsinks for my memory as a rule but this a different story....

Thanks.

For non-overclocking situations, the stock Intel cooler will be just fine. However, you may want to consider a better cooler if your house (or the room its in) is naturally hot, or if your case will have poor ventilation.

You should be fine. If you care about noise, you can get a quieter one, otherwise I wouldn't worry about it.

Thank you for replies. I think I will start with stock cooler and I'll see how it goes. I can always upgrade later.

The case I choose for my latest build is kinda on a small side it's Lian-Li PC-A05 and I don't know which CPU cooler will fit with no problems.
I don't think that my current CPU cooler Zalman 9500 will be a good choice for this case.

Thank you.

If you can spare $25 then I would go with an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro since you'll probably wish you bought it to begin with.

I'm looking at it at NewEgg and it's $56 not $25 plus shipping, but all this just little details. I might consider it a little down the road (reviews are great btw). I still have not put my build together (finally ordered CPU tonight), so as soon as my build is complete I will see how much space I'm looking at.

Thanks

The 9500 would be an excellent choice with the PC-A05 given how the 120mm rear intake is positioned directly in-line with the CPU, which would give the 9500 a constant source of cool air.

ugh, Newegg is gouging like crazy on that cooler again.

ewiz.com has it for $19.50 + shipping
