Do IBM drives break alot?

Well, i just ordered a IBM 60 gig 7200 rpm hard drive along with some other stuff. My pal informs me that IBM drives are prone to failure and have had many cases of BREAKING for no reason at all.

Is this true? Was my purchase of the IBM hard drive bad?

you probably got the 60gxp model, the 75gxp is notorious for being .. well a lemon, but the 60gxp is fine, i have a couple .. good luck ..

I hear there were a lot of problems with the 75GXP... I don't know about the new 60GXP's though.
