do increased security measures cause anyone else to have even worse passwords?

I open word/ notepad, hit the keyboard blindly in rage for a few seconds and write down all of the crap that spewed out. Copypasta to password field, and go for a break.

So pick a pattern and you can get hundreds of variations just by moving it around the keyboard. I actually use one pattern for all my passwords at work, I just remember the first key for each system.

good idea, use no rhyme or reason to them except patterns on the keyboard, I like it!

Those are neat. Shouldn't the trailing 'm' be capitalised in the last one?

You miss the pattern, never press the shift key for the last character.

Our domain policies aren't enough to be a hassle while still providing much better security than having none. Once every two months with relatively lax character requirements (at least 6 characters, at least 1 number, at least 1 letter).

my password for school has to be 15+ characters, have at least one number and one upper case letter. it has to be changed every 3 months. it definitely makes them less secure PW's. i usually just use a random sentence (usually with one word not in english, or any language) with one of the letters capitalized and a number at the end.
