Do lifetime warranties exist anymore?

It seems like all of the graphic card makers have gone away from the lifetime warranties that used to exist, such as XFX used to have.

Nope, company such as EVGA offer life time warranty to gain reputation and market shares. Once that is establish it is not particle to offer life time warranty as people well return very very old stuff.

BFG had a lifetime warranty. Until they went under in 2010. Had a GTX 260 Core 216 OCBE which was a beast of a card and (thankfully) lasted me until I upgraded to a GTX 670.

But as that small anecdotal experience tells you, lifetime means the lifetime of the company, and in a fast-paced industry like computer parts that could mean here today, gone tomorrow.

Not that i'm aware of and 3 years is enough for me, after that it's time for upgrade. Not to mention Gpu's hardly ever fail.

I don't think it's that dubious an intent. The biggest issue I see is that people aren't willing to pay more for the lifetime warranty. Not even an extra $10. Warranties cost the companies money. They have to be able to pass that expense on to the customer. If the customer isn't willing to pay for a product or service, you need to drop it.

EVGA's website They do 3yrs now and you can pay to have it extended to 5yrs. That's in No. America and Europe. In Asia-Pacific (here ) it's simply 3yrs with no option to extend it.

EVGA and PNY require that you register within 30 days of purchase to activate the lifetime warranty. Most people are so happy with getting that new item that they forget and bam there it goes.

Newegg are lying sacks of crap. That will just be copy and paste from other older XFX pages and they'll use it's simple human error as an excuse if they are called out on it.

This is from XFX. So it was all 4k, 5k, and 6k models, certain 7k models, and that's it.

What about people overclocking the snot out of their cards? What about people who don't clean the heat sink? What about people who own cats? Cat fur is teribad.

In the end the warranty has to include the product being heavily used. It doesn't matter if it's mining or benchmarking.

I looked into their 780 GTXs and they were only under 3 year warranties.

The suffix was -KR

Hardly ever? I've had 2 fail in the last 5 years.

I keep my old computers around for my son. My 9800 GTX from 5 years ago just failed. Just sent it back to XFX this past week. Prior to that I had a graphic card fail at around 3 years. I only get a new computer every 3-4 years now, so that is a high amount. I also use a UPS battery backup, so it isn't from surges.

They don't make anything higher than the 7000s.

EVGA is three years now, with the option to pay $25 for an additional two years. For my uses three years is more than enough.

As far as video cards not failing much ? ... Nothing fails as often in my experience. A video card is basically another PC in your PC; motherboard, vram, gpu, power delivery, cooler etc. Plenty to go wrong with them.

I just posted about how I sent the card back for a free replacement. Since they don't carry Geforce anymore, they will be giving me a newer AMD card.

It just so happens that I am ready to give this PC to my son as a replacement for that, but with the price gouging going on with the non reference 290s going on, I will be waiting for it to either settle down or Nvidia's next gen to come out.

Since I am waiting, my son needs a graphic card to have a working computer. Since XFX has a lifetime warranty, I pay nothing(in theory.. we shall see if they fulfill their terms).

9800s aren't made anymore... not sure what an equivalent that IS on sale, that would fit fine into a 6 year old PC would cost.. but it wouldn't be free.

Use an Amex or other warranty extending credit card and it becomes 2 years+.
