Do most people get recurrent canker sores?

you should define what a few times mean, and what once in a while mean
I would consider once every two-three months once a while, while my friend that gets it more than once a month would say it's nothing.

My parents used to tell me that it's caused from sugar. I highly doubt that's legit.

Where's the option for "often?"

During middle and high school, I was lucky to go a week without one, and I'd usually have a few at once.

Now they've tapered off a bit - I can usually go two weeks without one.

I've got a nice one now. I bit the same spot at least 8 times over the span of two days. Bite once, and it swells up, putting it in a position for more biting. Drew blood with each bite. Either I got too damn many teeth, or my mouth is too small.

canker sores are inside your mouth, not outside like cold sores. canker sores are not caused by herpes.

I've never figured it out - are canker sores the little bumps that swell up into a red balloon thingy on the inside of your lip, where they can be easily bitten? If yes, then I get one every once in a great while with no noticeable patterns to date. What's the difference between canker and cold sores?

i found a great treatment for canker sores recently, its called Peroxyl, made by colgate.

You take it to heal canker sores, or if you abraised your mouth or feel one coming on, use it then too to stop one from forming.

Hm, actually no it would appear to be a canker sore - inside the mouth: http://www.mayoclinic.com/heal...ore/DS00354/DSECTION=2

Cold sores are on the outer lip area:

Now that I think about it they usually come after eating some tough food like nuts or chips or they occur somewhere where I can tell it's easy to bite on my lip so I think they're right here: http://www.mayoclinic.com/heal...ore/DS00354/DSECTION=3

I will check out Peroxyl. Have been using SLS free toothpaste and listerine, but still get them rather frequently.

I used to get them when I smoked and I wouldn't brush my teeth for a few days. Since quitting smoking I don't believe I've had any.
