Do Netflix series normally end up on DVD? (new GitS Netflix 2020)

I'm wondering if I'm that much of a sucker for Ghost in the Shell that I might get a Netflix subscription pretty much solely for this series, or like before maybe I should wait for it to come on DVD for example.

That is a good question. I wondered if they would follow the likes of HBO and Showtime with porting TV series to DVD/BD.

Netflix's own series don't, but they don't make anime. That will end up on Blu-ray just like every other anime series.

Stranger Things did.

Since Netflix isn't paying to produce it, you should have other means. Actually wouldn't you prefer buying the original language region? I think physical copies are still pretty big in Japan (even for music).

Er kinda sounds like they offered some info that should help you:

In the UK the franchise has been licensed by Manga Entertainment and have recently released Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex on Blu-ray as well as a re-release for Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence. In Japan Production I.G also released the original Ghost in the Shell on Ultra HD Blu-ray with English support.

I've never complained about GitS in English (I was too eager for Arise any ended up watching it in Japanese / English subs though, so I've no idea what that sounds like in English).

My reason for starting the thread was that for all I knew, series that debut on Netflix enter some kind of special exclusivity arrangement.

Their DVD by mail service seems to have their original programs as well. Whether they sell them outside of that I don't know.
