Have you even tried going to somewhere like, I don't know, the motherboard manufacturer's website and actually looking for cpu support for a particular motherboard? Would have been the first thing I'd have done instead of begging for help........

In any event, here's Abit's list of supported cpus for the IP35-E motherboard:

http://www.abit.com.tw/cpu-sup...b/intel_p35_ip35-e.htm

Remember, Google is your friend........and mysteriously, manufacturers actually do list hardware that is supported, like cpus on motherboards, on their own websites.........

Keep in mind also that it MAY work even if it's not on the official supported list.

With that said, I don't recall if I used my P4 in a P35 board or not, but I want to say yes most of them will work.

it also depends which p4 you're talking about. The last time I looked at P45 boards, I noticed that they still support some LGA775 P4s - on this list, the P4s that had a PCG of 05 or 06 would work with the boards that I looked at.

also, from this page, the definition of PCG is:

The PCG marking on the processor and processor box is used by Intel and third party board and component vendors as a common method to describe processor power requirements. PCG does not promise compatibility, but is an indication of processor electrical requirements. In addition to PCG requirements, processors have board support requirements such as chipset, BIOS, and pin considerations that can determine processor-board compatibility. Intel recommends that you contact your motherboard manufacturer to obtain a supported processor list when selecting a processor for your motherboard.

Highlighting added by me.

well i don't know PCG of my P4 but i know that it is P4 2.8Ghz with HT, the problem is that i want to use my P4 with a new P35 motherboard (since my motherboard is creating problems) as my 24hour download machine.

ok, so 2.8 with HT (and assuming LGA775) makes your chip one of these

SL7J4 2.80 GHz 520 1 800 MHz 90 nm D0 1 MB LGA775 04A
SL7J5 2.80 GHz 520 1 800 MHz 90 nm D0 1 MB LGA775 04A
SL9CG 2.80 GHz 521 1 800 MHz 90 nm G1 1 MB LGA775 04A
SL8HX 2.80 GHz 521 1 800 MHz 90 nm E0 1 MB LGA775 04A
SL8PP 2.80 GHz 521 1 800 MHz 90 nm G1 1 MB LGA775 04A
SL7PR 2.80 GHz 520J 1 800 MHz 90 nm E0 1 MB LGA775 04A
SL7KJ 2.80 GHz 520 1 800 MHz 90 nm D0 1 MB LGA775 04A
SL8AB 2.80 GHz 620 1 800 MHz 90 nm N0 2 MB LGA775 04A

the PCG on those is 04A - you just have to check that your board would support that. note that the P45 boards i was looking at only supported the newer 05 and 06 PCGs.

Edit: and to answer your original question, yes, the Abit IP35-E does support this chip - on the 'supported cpu' page that Jessica69 posted, the Pentium 4 521/520/J is waaaay down at the bottom of the list. For other boards, you just have to look at the specs from the vendor to know whether your chip is supported.
