As a Southerner, let me assure you that there is no manner of speech more vile than that which escapes the New England mouth.

I know Connecticut does not have an accent. we prounounce words correctly annunciating each letter phoenetically as it was meant to be said without dropping syllables or adding drawls. It is quite perfect english.

In summary do not clump the north eastern states all together. Massholes, NYC'ers long islanders and connecticutians all sound much different.

I can't say I've ever met anyone from Connecticut, so I've got nothing against y'all. If you can give me a better geographic term that encompasses Massachussetts, NY, and Jersey then I'll use it instead of "New England".

You just can't spell, use proper sentence structure or capitalize the first word in a sentence. Not to mention that "quite perfect" is sort of a contradictory phrase. Not quite perfect yes, but "quite perfect" doesn't make any sense.

Well I am Southern. I'm aware of that definition, but we generally include the "middle colonies" when making that reference. (Sort of like how the rest of the world calls all Americanas "Yankees".) Pretty much everything above Maryland is New England to me.

Edit: Also, I'm beginnng to dislike Connecticutians now

As a northerner, let me assure you that there is no manner of speech more vile than that which escapes the Southern mouth. That ugly drawl ruins the language.

I had a british friend say that my California accent was sexy. In her opinion, Brits don't have accents because that's the way english is supposed to sound.

I was told in Australia that I had a "drawl" even though I speak perfect Midwestern accent-free English, so I'm thinking no.

American accent for English or when some guy tries to speak Spanish and butchers the language because people don't put any effort towards it?

I've never been to the Northeast, but I've met more than a few transplants. It didn't bother me at first, but I've come to hate it when it's a very strong accent. Since I'm not an amazing southern woman, I'm sure you won't mind.
And yes, I type "y'all". If you can think of a more concise way to address a group in the second-person please enlighten me.

im from New Zealand (dont get offended, i mean no disrespect) but the American accent is one of the most annoying there is. Ive seen on TV some chicks (from the south i think) and they have that different sounding accent, which is kinda sexy but the twangy full on american accent gives most non-us people a headache.
