Do people in your family all have similar political views?

Do the people in your immediate family generally have similar political views? My immediate family is all political moderates and I am a little more liberal, but still a moderate myself. Even my extended family is mostly moderate. Does anyone have a brother, sister, mom, or dad that has totally opposite political views of the rest of the family? (Only ones you grew up with and were close to).

Dad and middle sister are more conservative than me. Older sister - no idea. Younger sister shares my libertarian views. Based on Facebook posts, my father's brother's family is EXTREMELY liberal and absolutely distraught over our new president...not gonna lie, I chuckle at just about every post even though I'm not a Trump fan.

Nope. My wife & I are polar opposites. But we're also mature adults, so we can have a rational discussion, agree to disagree, and go about our day with no hard feelings

Personally though, I don't like how overly focused the media gets on our nation's two-party system; it takes the focus off the actual problems & instead focuses the spotlight on Team A or Team B. If a Democrat gets into office, then the Republicans automatically oppose just about everything they do, and vice-versa. I also don't like that people expect you to 100% agree with ALL party lines, because there are good (and bad) ideas on both sides. We need to focus on making the nation a better place to live instead of fighting each other. Never gonna happen, especially since the media are comprised of for-profit companies that make money off drama, and that's how most of the political news gets delivered to us, but it is nice that some people can have a political discussion instead of a political argument.

I had dinner with some friends recently, who invited some of our other friends. One set were strong Democrats & the others were strong Republicans. Boy oh boy did the discussion get heated. We left early It's like some people revert to a middle school mentality when they start talking politics & someone has a different POV or doesn't immediately agree with them. It seems like talking politics is worse than talking religion with most people

This election was really, really strange for my family.
I had an extremely right wing father who passed away a year ago.
I have a moderate right wing mother who voted Trump.
I have a liberal wife who voted Clinton.
Her father is extremely right wing and voted Trump.
I have no idea what my sister and brother voted, but they are both moderate conservatives.
I have lots of family who are extremely liberal and post on Facebook non-stop.
I have lots of family who are conservative and don't really post on Facebook.
Then I have my church family which mostly voted for Trump if Facebook posts ring true.

Personally I couldn't understand how anyone could vote for Clinton or Trump so I voted third party. I'm pretty conservative myself... Needless to say Facebook has been a wonderland of controversy. I've enjoyed it very much.

I don't really have any political views and don't follow or care about politics, so I don't really have any issues with family about it.

^ same I couldn't give a rat's ass about it (other than saying it's BS and we're only given an illusion of control). Thankfully my family is the same way. Religion too.

Arguing about any of this is like arguing over sports teams. And I like sports, but quit wasting your breath.

Father is kind of weird. Basically is a Trumpkin. Brother is a Colbert-echoing leftist. I am somewhat in the middle.

My Dad is deep blue bleeding liberal and will talk politics for hours. Most of his siblings are ultra right Fox news consuming hatemongers(one of my cousins posted pictures on facebook of an infant in a Trump onesie next to a Hillary for Jail sign...classy!). My Mom is not interested in politics at all. My wife is an ultra-liberal. Her parents are moderate conservatives but not really into politics discussions.

I'm moderate with more liberal leanings as the years go by. The older I get, the more I see the GOP game and fleecing they are doing of democracy.

Myself, my fiancee, my sister, my brother in law, and my brother ... are all more or less firmly entrenched in the Sanders camp. In the US, we would be considered far left, in Europe, we would be considered "center-right"

My mom is more or less apolitical. (She voted Obama, but didn't vote for sanders because my brother in law annoyed her by talking about sanders too much)
Not really on speaking terms with my father, however, I believe he is a fascist, so, go to the far end of the right side of the spectrum, and then go right some more.

I lean slightly left of center on a lot of issues, but definitely not all. The rest of my family is way, way left.

To say there was "drama" when my wife and I bought handguns would be a huge understatement.

Nope. I'm quite Liberal, rest of family is Conservative. They all think Trump is the best thing ever, I think he's going to be one of the worst.(not Hitler/Stalin worst, although he has potential)

My whole family works way to many hours and never over spend on our budget for projects around our homes or vacations so yes we are all conservatives..... not a bad way to live.

is conservationist a political leaning?

I would consider myself liberal, sis in-law is a bible thumping conservative, I believe most of my family is liberal to some extent.

My mom and dad were liberal, mom down right hated Reagan. and dad was for the legalization of pot.

Mother is a Trumper, father was a Clinton Democrat, sister is a moderate Democrat, and I'm a somewhat progressive leaning libertarian.

Two are liberal, one is retarded -- literally so I don't know what his affiliation is, left or right, or if it matters.

My immediate family and myself - all liberals. Brother in law - liberal.

I just feel bad for my sister, my brother in laws family is mostly Trumpist. They both were not looking forward to the holidays with them because of that.

I see a lot of girls on my primary dating website put on their profiles that if you are basically a right-winger, to please move on past their profiles. That makes me happy. I'm sure in the south there are girls putting on their profiles to please be a Jesus lover or move on. I know what I would take.

Super churchy conservative in-laws, hard conservative everyone else. My wife and I are the oddball moderates that vote libertarian. Yes we had lots of "A vote for Johnson is a vote for Hillary" nonsense to ignore, we live in TX there is no way Hillary would've won this state. And even it was a tossup state there was no way I was going to vote for the turd sandwich or giant douche anyway.
