Your manager is a D*CK. It is his responsibility to clean that bathroom. He is running the show. Next time the area manager comes in have a talk with them.

Fast food restaurants managers clean the toilets when it gets that dirty. Any good manager who cares about his/her job would do it and not ask the employees to do it. You are just a good employee who didn't quit. 99.5% of employees would say NO and the manager cannot fire them because they will usually end up firing the entire staff.

Your job was not to clean the toilet. If they told you before they hired you, fine. However, you are a cashier.

I would have taken a dump too right in the middle of the floor and walked out. Telling him you got sick from it and were going home. He cant do anything about it and you just took a sh1t on his floor. LOLz

I used to work at Sears. I was a Merchandise and Customer Assistant. I hated working the Kids department because for some odd reason females like to urinate on the carpet in there. It happened several times before I quit, and started to reek REALLY BAD. People would come up to me and tell me that it smells like urine in there, and I'd just go "We know." The management didn't want to spend any money getting it professionally cleaned. I could remember walking in there to pick up the damn clothes girls just threw on the floor and feeling something wet on the floor.

AFAIK, that is illegal to have you clean that. Im guessing you were not properly annuculated (sp?) - not to mention thats probably not in your job description (like that matters).

If I were you I would have refused, depending on the circumstances of course.

I manage a pizza restaurant on the weekends... it's well within my power to ask anyone there to clean up such messes. But, I generally do it myself. If I were in your situation, I'd have simply mentioned to the manager that "anyone who's ever gone to a leadership development workshop knows that you never ask a subordinate to do something you wouldn't do yourself." And, that's true. Also, did you have OSHA approved training in dealing with bodily fluids? Being somewhat familiar with the regulations (the little tidbits of knowledge that I've picked up while fast forwarding to the end of a lengthy presentation that I'm forced to view annually that can be summed up with "if it's wet and it isn't yours, don't touch it.") you could have refused to clean up the mess until you were given proper, OSHA-approved training.

BTW, you're not ready to be a parent.
Don't plan on having kids until you can deal with such messes.
(edit: not that I'm not sympathetic toward your plight)
