Do people still care about TACube and RC5?

Maetryx here,

I've been participating in the TACube doing RC5 crunching for a really long time now. 3 years? I'm not sure. Anyway, I just did a search for recent threads using "tacube" as the search string.

Not one hit :Q

Has SETI totally crushed the RC5? And TACube? I must have a dozen machines out there that are running RC5 for TACube. I haven't really kept track. ShotgunSteve keeps trying to hijack me for SETI, but I just keep resisting. Is TACube still relevant?

Some people got rather disillusioned with Dnet in general, because at least one of their honchos seemed unsupportive of David McOwen when Georgia went after him. I don't run RC5 anymore myself, for that reason (retired my account into Wolfie's, since he's still running it). I've been with the team almost 3 years too.

On another note, looks like they'll be hitting 89% soon (RC5 as a whole, I mean, not the Cube)!

The Cube does have a SETI team, but I'm not sure who participates in it!

They have nearly 25,000 WU's....but the Federation is coming up fast!

Is it important? Sure it is.....TA could fall to #3 before the project is done...and every block counts!

I decided that I would finish off RC5 since I started it about a week after Mech did. Something like 3 years ago. Mech and I have been good friends since and when he decided to leave RC5 because of the McOwen issue he retired his blocks over to me. I am just waiting it out and tring to finish with the team at #2. No matter what project we do, we are still good friends. Even tho the chating about RC5 has ceased, the project continues. (for a while anyways)

I still care about RC5. I quit for awhile after the non-support of DNET over McOwen's case, but I rejoined when the TeAm pleaded for help. I'm not producing much (~500 blocks/day) but everything counts. It would be a shame to get passed this late in the game.

I stopping doing RC5 since I have a P4 system now (I guess that does SETI better than RC5?)

I still have some newbie questions about the stats pages and such, getting a link for my name, changing my name, etc, for SETI but don't know where to ask At least I know I'm crunching for TA though, Engineer sent me that link.

RC5?? What's that?

My whole herd is still dedicated to RC5, which the exception of the occaisionaly donation of power to other projects. I, like Wolfie and many others, want to finish out the project before moving on. Besides... I still have to pass someone... again!

I really hated to see what happened with the project when that happened. It has become fodder for Political Science and Computer Science classes worldwide.

RC5 has been an on-again-off-again project for me. I think there's still one machine at my work that's been crunching for TA-Cube.. I just can't remember which one of the several hundred it is.

I retired 50k to Osmo a long time back, then retired another 1.3M to the Federation Auxilliary Fleet(too bad we can't combine those fleets) and then roughly another 400k to the TA Klingons from a benefit auction for Dave McOwen. Lastly a couple hundred K to TA Cube when I took a break from SETI.

From Nugget's plan:
The fine folks over at SlashNET will be hosting us unsavory distributed.net geeks for an online forum on 28-Sep-2002 to discuss distributed.net, future directions, and whatever else anyone is interested in knowing. Please consider showing up for the fun!

There was a thread about TACube just a few days ago or so ,it had to do with SETIQ though ,don't know why your search turned up nothing

I do mainly OGR but I have just recently put my home machine back on RC5. In the process of upgrading it to duallie so that will add a little bit more.

For the sake of proper accounting, NWM's WU's from his original triton.net account (if I recall correctly) we subsequently transfered into TWTA along time ago. In fact back in the day before TA Cube and miniteams as most know them for that matter. With all due respect to "The Garden" of course.

I continue to do RC5. I was doing OGR for a long time, but the lack of results from OGR-24 and OGR-25 status made me swap back. Been doing RC5 continuously on one PC or another for over three years (1346 days and counting), currently running on about 12 computers, with a mini-crack-rack action at work. (more like a crock-rock). While I've never contributed to TA-Cube, there was a time when I was way ahead of them (when I was consistently in the top 100 daily players). Glory days, they'll pass you by.

ps, just dumped over 15,000 on the team proxy from weekend accumulation. Mooooooo!

It's good to see that some folks are still doing RC5 for TACube. I was unaware that some people felt morally inspired to abandon RC5, although I was familiar with the State of Georgia and their "case" against Dave McOwen.

Yeah, I've pretty much decided to ride it out to the last work unit. Besides, most of the machines are no longer in my control, so I can't remove the client anyway .

Still cracking here too as well as doing OGR. Guess it's time to do a dump.... The project is coming to an end soon anyway, provided that the key wasn't missed... :Q
