The answer to OP's question depends entirely on what pants you are wearing. I have some pants/jeans with small pockets that cannot fit a phablet. I also don't own or want a phablet so this doesn't matter to me.

In the pants/jeans that I own with smaller pockets the limit was the Nexus 5 with respect to height. Any taller and the phone would have shown as I stood. In addition to ergonomics, another plus with smaller phones is not having to worry if they will fit in your front pocket and still leave room.

Sounds like you're describing skinny jeans.

I think Red Squirrel is a woman. Women's jeans have tiny pockets for some reason.

I can fit my original Kindle Fire (7", and bulky for its screen size) in most of my jean pockets, front or back, though it does stick out a little. But it does fit.

OnePlus One fits in my Seven jeans. 32"

iPad Mini and Nexus 7 do not fit.

I can fit both my Note 3 and HTC One M8 in the same front pocket in my Seven jeans (32"), well the standard fit ones anyway haha.

Don't dress like a girl and wear some real pants. Problem solved.

Or, you could always try not being sexist. I hear that intelligence and tolerance work wonders. Seriously, we shouldn't insist that everyone conform to a male stereotype just to get a fast phone.

Just to mix it up, I'm going to go against the preponderance of evidence and insist exactly the opposite. Just 'cuz.

"NO WAY! Phablets don't fit in pockets!"

Next, I shall exaggerate wildly.

"Phablets are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo huge, man!"

Just wore a slim fit Tom Ford suit all day in DC. Note 3 fits perfect in breast pocket. In this case, no phone is small enough to fit in trouser front pocket regardless.

Now my Note 3 is sitting comfortably in my Levi 501 jean.

Nope male, normal jeans, but I find all jeans pockets don't really have any "3Dness" to them compared to shorts or even dress pants, as the pockets don't have much play and sit flat against the thigh and bend when sitting down. Pretty sure if I managed to get my phone in there and sat down it would break the glass. For a while I was using a holster but it kinda got annoying. In winter I'll be wearing a coat, so just put it in the coat pocket, in summer I'll be wearing shorts. So it works out anyway. Can't imagine putting a phablet in any of those pockets though. Would be bulky as hell.

:$ sorry, I had you confused with someone else!

Yes, a lot of pockets will fit large phones when you're standing but I'm nervous about sitting down. It's fine for a 4-5" phone, but with my Kindle Fire I can't sit for fear of breaking it. I really only use it if I need to quickly free up a hand.

So you're saying guys who like bigger phones are trying to compensate for something?

More seriously, I hope the OP isn't asking the question because they're looking for an answer. It's a simple case of math. How big is the phablet? How big is the pocket?

Done.

Note 3 fits in front pocket of my slim fit Cords, my 501's, & my khaki slacks. Only issue is when I wear a suit. I usually carry in my inside breast pocket.

I think some people don't realize their "itty-bitty" phones (especially encased in a block of toddler-proofing) aren't exactly invisible in their pockets. I was chuckling today at some people that looked like they had a deck of cards in their pockets, whereas my Note 3 being much sleeker, is actually less conspicuous.

Phablets, and even smaller tablets, can fit in some pockets, but not all.

I got to play around with the original Blackberry tablet once, and noticed it was the perfect size to fit in my suit jacket pocket, and I was like "oh, they designed this for business men to use as a pda". Had I owned a Blackberry phone and worn suits on a regular basis, I probably would have gotten a blackberry tablet.

My Nexus 7, with a fairly thick folio cover, fits just fine in the back or front pocket of most of my pants (more comfortable in the back) except for jeans that have smaller pockets.
