Picky eaters do annoy me as it severely limits where and what you can eat when with them. I'm willing to try most new things within reason(no brains, etc), and would certainly suck it up and just eat it when with someone else.

It's all relative. My chinese wife loves to gnaw on fish heads and duck heads and pig eyes.

But hates chicken.

A co-worker of mine is a 24 year old, tall, lanky, red headed kid who refuses to eat anything but bread, cheese, french fries, and beef.

Since he has been at the company longer I loathe having to go to him for help when I don't understand something because he also sports this "holier than thou" attitude.

I don't like taking shit from a 24 year old kid who won't eat vegetables.

It's a bummer this probably won't be read since it's buried this deep in the thread... I'm a picky eater, and it annoys the hell out of me. I like finding new things to eat, but my problem, as is with a lot of picky eaters, many times we more and/or more sensitive taste buds. Most are more sensitive to one type of taste. I've VERY sensitive to bitter. So that means no green veges, no beer, no coffee. I love spicy food, and I can eat at most restaurants without annoying the crap out of everyone. I'll usually order something plain, or customize the crap out of it, but I don't make a fuss. (My wife just acknowledged that I'm not an ANNOYING picky eater)

In fact, I try to be accommodating as possible. I'm not a whiner. But one thing that IRKS THE LIVING SHIT out of me, is someone that stares at me while I eat, observing my pickiness. I already know that I eat like a mutant. And if I'm sitting there quietly picking a demon-onion out of my Mexican food, LEAVE ME BE.

Now, the people the scrunch their nose and say "Ewwww" to everything, or constantly send back food need to bring a Happy Meal and STFU.

Depends on how picky.

I won't eat anything really strange or unusual, or any seafood aside from shrimp, some fish, or some crab prepared in specific ways. I don't like asian food in general.

If they make like moaning bitching sounds when you suggest places to eat yes.

uhhh ahuhhhhhhhh ahhhh uhhhhh

like sheldan on big bang theory.

I can understand if there are certain things people just can't eat though. I have a gag reflex to cucumber and seaweed while one of my friends can't stand raw fish.... needless to say we don't cross our sushi.

Lot of stuff tastes bad to me, but I'll still eat my roommates cooking or go to McDonalds.

I think a good benchmark is if the person will eat raw foods (sushi, meat, shellfish). If they don't they are most likely picky, and probably the type of idiots that order their steak well done.

I have a problem with picky eaters when their list of "yucky" foods is longer than my menu. I really have a problem when a guest at a buffet suddenly discovers they're "allergic" to everything when they've known the menu for at lest a week. I point to Burger King down the street and show them the door when they exclaim in a loud voice during lunch how "nasty" something looks in my restaurant because it has an ingredient they don't like. In short, you know what they call picky eaters? Hungry.

I'm admittedly a very picky eater.

I hate fresh tomatoes and onions. You cook them, and I'll eat them. Stewed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and onions cooked in anyway imaginable... and I'll eat it. I also hate mushrooms. Not because of their taste though, it's their texture. I absolutely hate that soft/crunchy texture. I hate when cheese is an overpowering taste where it doesn't belong (i.e. way too much cheese on a bowl a spaghetti, my family does this way too often). I hate cheese by itself, it has to go with something. I only like orange bell peppers (red ones are fine too), green ones suck. I only like carrots sliced in a specific way. I know this probably sounds extremely weird, but I HATE carrot medallions, but I love thinly sliced carrots.

I have a lot more nitpicks, but those are the major ones. Yes, I'm a picky eater since I've been a kid. I've gradually grown to like more and diverse foods though, but I doubt I'll ever get over fresh tomatoes and mushrooms.

Define "delicious international food"

Well.

Ranges from americanized foods like teriyaki, panda express, etc.
To authentic Thai, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, , Korean, etc. The little buses with Mexican food can be pretty good, etc.

Eating Chinese with a Chinese guy from Hong Kong at fuckin deelish authentic Chinese restaurants in Vancouver, BC is pretty dope...
I have an Indian co-worker who likes taking me to legit Indian restaurants.

I used to work at a computer store with several Koreans... they had some delicious home-made food and pointed me towards some good Korean restaurants.

There is pretty good Chinese around here too....

Plus things like mongolian grills, etc.

And that's all within a 10 mile radius of me, most of them can be had within 3 miles.

I could drive 20 miles to Seattle and get pretty much anything.

I'm constantly on the lookout for new things to try....

I'm a picky eater. I don't want to be a picky eater. It's not that I don't like the taste of foods - the texture of some stuff just makes me gag. I love the smell of a lot of foods, but can't eat them.

Pretty much any restaurant will have something I'll eat though, and I get by alright when I'm eating at people's houses. Even if I don't like something, I'll force myself to eat enough to be polite and try not to draw attention to my pickyness. Really the only person who is inconvenienced is my mom, because she's the only person I expect to accomodate me. But even when I'm at my parents' house for dinner I'll usually cook my own meal.

suck it up, try some new stuff with an open mind, maybe surprise yourself.

theres a few things i still cant get over that i absolutely HATED as a kid. baked beans, close slaw, and yellow mustard (brown is good eats) top the list.

Yes, they are freaks and should be treated accordingly.

My best friend is a picky eater and that's why I never have him over for dinner or go out to eat with him. I shun him. Picky eaters need to die of hunger.

I knew someone that didn't eat anything that grew out of the ground.

It bugged the hell outta me. I don't mind picky eaters, but when you don't like entire food groups, it annoys me.

No, it doesn't bother me, since I'm a picky eater myself. I'm also not an adventurous person when it comes to new dishes.

I will, however, eat anything that's prepared for me, unless it's something that REALLY disagrees with me (such as most varieties of squash).

hell, i am vietnamese and i refused to eat half the stuff my mom made when i was young because i thought it was "weird". i cant really pinpoint to an event in my life when that started. I always wanted fast food and "american" stuff. maybe i was brainwashed by tv and felt shamed to eat things that didn't come wrapped in a happy meal. looking back i really just had an irrational fear of certain things that i deemed weird to eat. thank god ive seen the light now.

sometimes people can genuinely not like something, eg. i dont like gouda cheese or whole milk for the taste, and i hate mayo, but picky people who are picky about everything or refuse to try something for no reason need to DIAF

srsly. my dad is like that and i *hate* cooking for my parents because of this. all he wants is 3 different starches and some kind of bland meat.
